The Ultimate Mom Review & Giveaway
Being a mom has it’s ups and downs, and it is no easy task. It’s always nice to be able to relate to other’s experiences, and draw from them. When I received a copy of The Ultimate Mom by Maria Bailey, I was excited to read it, as I knew it would allow me to do just that.
A little bit about the author, Maria Bailey:
“Maria Bailey is an award-winning author, radio talk show host, and nationally known speaker. She is the founder of bluesuitmom.com, the award-winning website for executive working mothers, and cofounder of newbaby.com, the largest resource of online video for moms. She is the host of The Balancking Act on Lifetime TV, the host of Mom Talk Radio, the first nationally syndicated radio show for moms, and radio cohost of Good Day with Doug Stephan.”
The Ultimate Mom is a compilation of stories, photos and tips from experts. The stories shared in this books come from all different moms, in different walks of life. I had to admit, I found myself smiling while reading a lot of the stories, and definitely being able to relate.
I was actually really touched by the very first few lines of the book which state: “Motherhood. There are few words in the English language that hold so much meaning and even fewer that are so undefined.”
Isn’t that the truth? There isn’t exactly a manual on how to be a mother. It’s trial and error, it’s doing what works best for you and your children. I could totally relate to one of the first stories shared. A mother strives to be one of those “perfect moms” who always has the diaper bag packed, is always 100% patient, and is ready in every situation. I think a lot of moms feel this way. They portray everyone but themselves as the perfect mom. I love how this mom points out that moms come in different shapes and sizes and we all struggle in one way or another, whether we are willing to admit it or not. Keeping it real.
Another story I really enjoying was one mom’s desperation in trying to get her 3 year old potty trained. She “faked” a birthday for him as he was convinced he wouldn’t potty train until 4. It was a cute and funny story, and I can totally relate to the potty training right now.
There are countless other stories included in this book ranging from topics like mentoring moms, new beginnings, and bonds we share, just to name a few.
I really like this book, because each story is easy and quick to read. It’s perfect to curl up and read the whole way through, or to just read a story or two a day to help inspire. It’s an easy read and very captivating.
There are beautiful color illustrations, and wonderful tips. One info I really appreciated, was focused on how moms can find “me time.” I don’t know about you, but I’m always in need of me time!
The Bottom Line: This book is a great read, and would make an awesome gift for any mom, young or old.
