Funky Monkey Fruit – Fruit That Crunches. Catchy tagline, isn’t it? Funky Monkey doesn’t only have a cute tagline, it has a great variety of freeze dried snacks that are 100% natural. Growing up, we had loads of apple trees and an apricot tree as well. I have fond memories of my mom drying apples and apricots. They were such a yummy snack, so I was already a fan of freeze dried fruit when we tried out the Funky Monkey Snacks.
Pros: Funky Monkey comes in 4 different flavors:
- Bananamon
- Carnaval Mix
- Jivealime
- Purple Funk
The Bananamon and Purple Funk are made with bananas and these were the most popular with my boys. The purple funk are made with acai berry and have a nice fruity taste. The Bananamon are bananas with cinnamon. The taste is sweet, and they have a good crunch to them. Chandler isn’t a huge fan of fresh fruit, he’ll eat it occasionally, so this is a nice alternative so that he can get his daily intake of fruit. In 
fact, each bag has 3 servings, and is organic. My personal favorite was the carnaval mix. It has pineapple, apple, papaya, banana and raisins. The flavors really compliment each other. And then of course, it is all natural.
It’s funny how my boys are more willing to eat a product if it comes in flashy packaging. I also take notice in packaging as I have a husband who graduated in Advertising and is constantly pointing out good and bad advertising to me. I think that Funky Monkey has a very likeable character, cute packaging, and I love the Funky Monkey website. Chandler came running as soon as I pulled it up. It has fun music, great colors and is extremely easy to navigate. Kudos to them for creating such a cute site.
Cons: These are a snack we’d definitely take on the go, so I wish they came in resealable packaging, so that they don’t spill and stay fresh longer if I were to keep them in the diaper bag. Each package is also only 1 oz and run around $2, so they are a bit expensive. I also think it would be a good idea to sell this in larger chip sized packages.
None of us were fond of the Jivealime flavor. Maybe it’s because we haven’t ever had freeze dried pineapple, but I personally didn’t like the lime flavor in it.
The Bottom Line: 100% Natural freeze dried fruit, low in calories, 4 different flavors, organic.
