aden + anais Sleeping Bag – Review & Giveaway
I reviewed an aden + anais swaddling blanket back in April, and was definitely impressed, so when I got the opportunity to review one of the sleeping bags, I jumped on it.
Here’s a little bit on how aden + anais got started:
“We’re Aussie mothers who moved from Australia to the United States in 1996. In preparation for the arrival of our children, Aden and Anais, we went in search of muslin wraps like the ones we have back home, a staple with Australian mothers. None of the wraps we found on the market in the US were the right size, they were too small to securely swaddle our babies. None of the materials the other wraps used were the same soft, breathable muslin cotton we were used to in Australia. So, we decided to make our own. Everywhere we went people would comment and ask us “where did you get the great wraps from?” Nurses in the hospital, pediatricians, obstetricians, lactation consultants, mothers in our baby groups and our friends all wanted our wraps for their own babies.”
Pros: The sleeping bags from aden + anais are of course that great light muslin that they use in their
swaddling blankets. The bag is extremely lightweight and generous in size. I received a 6-12 month size, and it measures 31″ in length. This lets me know there is room to grow. I worked on a mom baby unit for a year and a half a few years back. We actually used sleeping bags much like this at the hospital for the newborns but they were fleece and really bulky. Of course the muslin keeps babies from overheating and these wash up REALLY nicely. The colors stay nice and vibrant and the material stays nice and soft. These sleeping bags help reduce the risk of SIDS and help you transition from the swaddling stage.
I also like that these zip from the bottom down, meaning you wont have an annoying zipper pull up by baby’s face. There are a wide variety of sizes ranging from newborn to 24 months.
Cons: When you go to order these on aden + anais’ website, it doesn’t specify what the weight and height are for the different sizes. You only have the option to order small through extra large. I think this could be frustrating for those buying. I actually had to go to a different website to figure out the sizing for different sizes. If there is a sizing chart on the website, I can’t find it! For those of you who are curious, here is a sizing chart.
I also think it would be a great improvement if they made these tag free. They have a rather large tag on the neck and these can get itchy.
The Bottom Line: Australian muslin sleeping bags which are lightweight, protect against SIDS, wash up nicely and come in a great variety of sizes.
