Kooky USB Drives – Review & Giveaway (closed)
Computers are used in a teen’s everyday life. Homework, social networking, playing games, etc. I’m old enough that I remember using floppy disks in Jr. High and some of High School to store files and transfer them from my home computer to one at school. Then in college, I invested in a USB drive. It made transferring files, easier, the storage capacity was unreal, and it was smaller and easier to carry than a floppy. Kooky USB Drives, which are made by Emtec, are based off the Kooky Klickers and are definitely a cool and functional accessory for any teen.
Pros: I received Daze-E, this funky blue and red Kooky. I love that all of the Kooky’s have a storage space of 2GB. This means lots of room to store files, music, and photos. When I plugged it into my laptop, I saw it flashing and working immediately. My computer recognized it right away and I moved a few pictures over. It was quick, easy and effortless. I then unplugged it and plugged it back in. I brought the files back over to my computer and just like that, the transfer was done.

The specifications of this USB include:
Capacity: 2GB
Read Speed: up to 7 MB/s
Write Speed: up to 4 MB/s
Operating System: Windows 98Se, 2000, XP, Me, Vista, Linux, Mac OS
Compatibility: Compatible with all USB 1.1 & USB 2.0 devices
Warranty: 5 years
Drive Dimensions: 4.29 x 1.73 x 0.71 in
Blister Dimensions: 6.4 x 4.68 x 0.80 in
I really like that these products have a 5 year warranty. I’ve had a USB drive go out on me before, and that’s NOT fun when you have important files stored on there. And at $14.99 it is competitively priced with other USB drives with that storage capacity.
Cons: Our desktop is a Mac and has a USB ports built into the back of the monitor, but there is one in the keyboard as well. I tried plugging it into the keyboard and it was too bulky for the keyboard to lay flat and have the kooky plugged in. I’ve also noticed that some of the Kooky’s come with keychains, and think it would be a good incorporation for all of them to come with one. There is a place to attach a key ring on my kooky, but I’d have to go out and separately buy one.
The Bottom Line: Cool and functional USB drives for teens
Price: $14.99
