Piggy Paint – Review & Giveaway (closed)
Piggy Paint is a natural nail polish, and their clam is that it’s “natural as mud.” No matter how old you are, nail polish adds that extra feminine touch. I don’t normally paint my nails a lot, just because I have two little boys and it seems like I am crazy busy. The other night, I sat down to paint my nails this cute Tea Party for Two. It’s a bright blue, and definitely festive for the 4th of July. My 3 year old came in the room and said, “Wow mama, that’s so shiny!” He insisted that I paint his nails. Of course he doesn’t understand fully why boys don’t paint their nails so I did it. He’s been admiring them since I painted them. My husband doesn’t fully appreciate it, but that’s a given.
Pros: These nail polishes were designed by a Stay at Home Mom with two little girls, Melanie Hurley. They are non-toxic, odorless and kid friendly. I don’t currently have a little girl, (hopefully someday!) but I can only imagine how this polish solves a lot of problems for moms who have little girls who like their nails painted. As I mentioned above, I got a vibrant blue color. After one coat, I was amazed at how well it covered, so I didn’t even do a second coat. This is nice for little kids, it means less drying time.
It has a smell to it, but it definitely isn’t that potent nail polish smell that makes you feel light headed.
I was really impressed with the nail polish remover. It is also non-toxic, odorless, and hypoallergenic. And it definitely is odorless. Best of all, it does a great job taking nail polish off and doesn’t make your nails feel weak afterward. It’s environmentally friendly and includes aloe vera and vitamin E to help strengthen nails and cuticles.
Cons: I did have some trouble with the polish chipping only a few hours after I applied it. I think one reason is because I didn’t apply a top coat. Piggy Paint has a top coat with sparkles, it looks cute. I also
noticed after my polish had dried these instructions on the back of the bottle: “For maximum chip resistance, blow dry polished nails for 1 minute on warm heat/low blower setting.”
I’m definitely going to try this next time.
Before I received the product, I went browsing on the Piggy Paint website and thought their prices were a little high. They are $9.99 for a .5 oz bottle, and $10.50 for the polish remover. Then I got the polish and realized all of the benefits. So isn’t it better to pay a little more and get something for your child that won’t harm them? You can also get a 15% discount code and free shipping with a $25 order. See below.
