Pom Wonderful
In passing the refrigerated juices at the store, I’ve often seen Pom Wonderful and wondered exactly what it was. I remember looking at the label one day, seeing that it was 100% pomegranate …

Bach Kids Original Flower Remedies – Review & Giveaway (closed)

Parenting
I am the  mother of two super cute girls, one of which has special needs.  My darling 8 year old has a global dyspraxia  that affects her motor skills, sense of direction and basically how her mind processes things.  She also has an auditory processing disorder, a language disorder, anxiety and learning disabilities in math, reading and writing.   To say that she struggles with certain aspects of life would be an understatement. As a result,  Tiffany thought I would be the perfect person to review the Bach Kids Original Flower Remedies.

From their website : The Bach Kids Original Flower Remedies were  created to treat your child’s emotions and restore balance, each remedy is part of a system of 38 Bach Original Flower remedies developed by Dr. Edward Bach  more than 70 years ago.

I tried all three remedies.

“The Confidence Remedy,”   which had this following description on the bottle:

Lack of confidence can get in the way of your child reaching his or her highest potential. Bach Kids’ Confidence Remedy was created specifically to give children a safe and natural confidence boost to aid in overcoming frustrating obstacles of self-doubt.

“The Rescue Remedy” Picture 16
This combination works to ease your child’s stress, which in addition to hampering her success and happiness, can significantly degrade her immune system, making it difficult to ward off the contagions that surround her in school, at the playground and at extra-curricular activities. And finally, the

Children face countless difficulties associated with a lack of concentration. Trouble concentrating can impact their academic experience, social lives and family relationships. Bach Kids’ Daydream Remedy offers a natural way to relieve some of those troubles.

I also tried the “Rescue Rememdy” for two weeks with my older daughter who is a high striving, Type A personality, essentially a  perfectionist.  She tends to get stressed out with things and gets a bit impatient.  I didn’t notice any difference in her when I administered the Rescue Remedy.
I followed the directions exactly and we did the remedies every day for two weeks. As with most homeopathic products, it can take awhile to get some kind of result.  My darling 8 year old is going to summer school right now, so I thought it would be applicable to try the remedies during this time.  Normally, school is a stressful and frustrating time for her.

Pros:
1. My daughter does not mind opening up her mouth and taking them directly out of the dropper.  The flavor is fine and doesn’t seem to have a bitter after taste.

2. Normally I have to fight with my daughter to practice violin and she can get grouchy and irritable with me and argue with me.  The last several practice sessions, she has been able to stay on task, is willing to go through the complete lesson and is agreeable and quite calm during a typically difficult task for her.  My daughter also has a slow working memory and a low short term memory.  I have seen slight improvement in her ability to stay on task and “keep her motor running.”

3.  She seems to want to help me out more  with chores around the house and isn’t as moody or irritable towards her sister or myself.

4. In the past few days, she has confidence enough to let me drop her off at the front door of the school instead of taking her all the way to the end of the hallway in the school.  I usually have to take her all the way to her room as she is shy and timid and  has a poor sense of direction.

5. She hasn’t  minded going to school, where as before it has always been a struggle.  However, right now  she is only going part days and stays all day with other resource room children, where as during the normal school year, it is all day with pull outs from the mainstream classroom.  I would be curious to see how well these remedies would work in the fall when we are back in school full time and life is a lot more stressful for her.

6. The remedies have an easy to use bottle with dropper and attractive label.

Charlise in August

Cons:
1.  Remembering to give the drops to her multiple times a day .  The directions for the Confidence formula are “2 drops … take a minimum of 4 times a day.”  At a cost of $12.95 for each 10 ml bottle, the expense can add up pretty quickly.

2.  Although it has helped some, when faced with a stressful situation at our church recently, my darling had a major meltdown, that took an hour at least to calm down from.  The Bach Kids remedies are definitely NOT a cure all.

3.  Just as each child is different and individual, what may have helped one child, may not help the other and vice versa. Results may vary from person to person.

4. Because it is homeopathic, it is not going to have results as quickly as a prescription product.  I would say that it took at least 10 days before I noticed any kind of  change, and even then the changes are more subtle and not major.

5.  To keep getting the results, you need to be consistently taking it every day.

6.  To be able to tell if one was working more effectively than the next,  I would have liked to try just one of the Bach Kids Remedies alone for a few weeks to observe any affect it had on my daughter, rather than combining the 3 products.

Bach Kids Original Remedies can be ordered directly from the website at Bachkids.com .

We have a child with multiple special needs, so much so that he receives disability and is enrolled in a special program at his school because of these needs. His needs have effected him to the degree that he has been held back a year in school already. Multiple techniques and therapies have been applied; some with positive and negative results. The most effective has been a strong prescription that has negative growth and long term effects.

I first read about the Bach remedies many years ago and for myself found the Rescue Remedy to be often very effective. I think this would be a great thing to try.

Thanks for the intensely thoughtful and honest reviews – genuinely helpful!

I’d like the try the Bach Kid’s Remedies – because I’ve tried some of their adult remedies – with varying degrees of success. Though as you note each individual responds differently, they are certainly worth trying. I found several to be very helpful.

Read their literature for specific remedies. One, Wild Rose, I believe was very helpful to me after breast cancer surgery and ensuing “depression.”

Sounds like your daughter might do better with Impatiens rather than Rescue Remedy. I’m looking forward to trying these new products; our family already successfully uses Rescue Remedy, Rescue Sleep and a few others as needed.
