About the Book
The Unexpected Gift is about the strong bond of friendship and how two different women’s lives can cross and how they can drastically change because of it.
Drew Robbins Warren is a divorced mother of two children, whose husband has just left her for a younger woman. Drew is living in the pain of her divorce & cannot let go of the past that she once had with her ex husband. Leah Cline is a pregnant single eighteen-year-old girl with no family, friends, or money. Through chance these women meet and the only things they have in common are loneliness and pain. Through their unlikely friendship, Drew and Leah form a strong bond of friendship and embrace life while accepting everything that life has offered to them.
The Unexpected Gift was written by longtime friends, Michelle Bulmer Atha and Meaghan Gonzales Wagar who have experienced the lonliness and grief of divorce at the same time. The single mothers found peace by helping other mothers and writing about them. Together they wrote this book “The unexpected gift”
Pros: This is a light read and is perfect for a short plane or trip in the car. It is easy to follow & brings a sense of peace. As a divorced mother of two it really hit home for me and I found myself close to tears as I relived my own pain as I read how the Character Drew felt in the book. I enjoyed seeing that good can come from even the worst circumstances and that sometimes to get through the hardest times is by serving others.
Cons: A reader reading this book that has not been through similar circumstances may not appreciate the full depth of what each character is going through but other than that I give it two thumbs up!
