Why Is It?
That when I finally get the opportunity to sleep, I find myself surfing the net? I’ll be the first to admit that my schedule is quite floppy. I rotate between staying up all night at work, to trying to sleep at night, to trying to function during the day.
I’m seriously exhausted, but some weird force compels me to keep clicking my mouse. I’m getting caught up on all of my favorite blogs and adding items to various shopping carts that I won’t buy. Sometimes I sit back and wonder how other moms do it. And then I realize I do it. Sort of. I haven’t had a shower today. My hair is greasy, my legs need to be shaved, and I probably stink. Aren’t you glad you can’t smell me? I do have some makeup on. Leftovers
But I did play at the park with my boys, snuggle on the couch with them, and chase them endlessly. I did laundry and attempted to do dishes. I made a trip to Walmart with BOTH kids and managed to get a lot of grocery shopping done. (For the first time, I took Rowan in the kokopax backpack carrier and put Chandler in the front of the cart. It was genius, other than the fact that my back and shoulders were sore after 45 minutes, and Rowan loved pulling my hair.)
Did I mention I’m tired? Yet here I sit.

Thats funny, I totally do the same thing. My husband has to yell at me to rest because all I want to do is work on my blog when Im supposed to be sleeping. I give my kids the proper mommy time so the only spare time to blog is while they sleep. Sleep or blog, man thats a tough one:)

Get some sleep!
But, yes, I do the same exact thing. Every day, I say I’m going to nap while my son’s at school because I’m exhausted. Then I start one project or another. And before I know it, it’s time for the bus to get here. (And then I realize it’s almost midnight, and I’m still up.) Ugh.

I have to finish my blogging before I go to bed, even if I can barely hold my eyes open. In fact I’m tired right now, yet here I am…

I could have written this! I seriously stayed up until 12:30am last night catching up on Perez Hilton and Dlisted. You know, because celebrity gossip is OMG VERY IMPORTANT.
p.s. Yes, my DH has lighter hair, but nowhere near as light as Zoe’s! Apparently he was a towhead as a child, so she comes by it honestly.

I do the same thing. Sit here when everyone else is sleeping. I just can’t get my head to shut down enough to be able to fall asleep.

Maybe you’ll all come to the realization that at least every other night you really do need to go to bed and get some good sleep.
Realize that when you are an awake zombie and driving that you are just as dangerous as a drunk driver, it has been proven scientifically that you decision making ability and reaction skills are slowed just as much. Realize too that bouncing around sleep times and also lack of sleep can lead to a shorter life span by as much as seven years.
With that in mind, I’m not saying give up all your nights of staying up and doing what you enjoy, but try to be good to your body that needs sleep. Just at least make yourself go to bed every other night.
It has also been proven that most of the calcium are body absorbs and uses to keep our bones strong, and our teeth, and muscles need it too, is mostly absorbed and functioned through for these purposes when we sleep.
Hope I don’t sound like I’m preaching, because I used to be alot like you, but now I try to get to bed at least four nights out of the week, and it really does help you feel less zombie like.
Good luck. Try taking some Melatonin an hour before going to bed and be in a darkened room for that hour. It should help you get sleepy. Unless you’re not suppose to take Melatonin because you’re on prescribed meds or something. I find over the counter Melatonin really helps.

Ah… because you are soo much like me. A night owl. Tired, but still plugging a long. I loved the pictures. It totally made me laugh because I could visualize it. And OF COURSE your little guy that has a hair fixation would be in 7th Heaven in a back pack carrier having full access to his mamma’s hair. LOL. When the kids are in bed, it is called “free time” and I want to take advantage of it to the fullest.

I hear ya! I do the same thing every.flippin.night! Every morning I think, ‘oh Im so going to bed when the kids go to bed tonight.’ but I never do! Maybe one day we’ll all smarten up and go to bed at a decent hour.

Isn’t it funny how it is a cycle? My boys were in bed at 9. I should have followed.
