Getting Your Workout In
I like to work up a good sweat. I know it’s good for me and releases a lot of stress. It was easy for me to get a daily workout in before I had my boys. Then Chandler came along, and it became a bit more challenging. After Rowan made his appearance, I realized just how chaotic life was going to be. I started to yo-yo with my workouts and realized my energy level was low and the weight from my pregnancy was taking a lot longer to come off. I bought a bunch of workout dvd’s but would find that I would become bored with them. After finding out about EA Sports, Personal Active Trainer, I was excited and wanted to learn more.
Pros: The great thing about EA active sports is that it’s customized to you. You enter your gender, age, height and weight. You then select your body type, and clothing choice to make it look like you.
After I got started, I decided to take the 30 day challenge. I got to pick my trainer and see a calendar and goals. The goal was to have 20 workouts in 30 days, with rest days in between. I like that the game keeps track of this. As you get started, you see the exercises you will do for the day and your projected calorie burn. The game comes with a leg strap and resistance band that you use throughout your exercises.
The tutorials in the video are very well thought out easy to follow. I feel like the workouts are balanced well and the game has a lot of variety. I love that sports are included along with resistance training and cardio. I also really like the journaling option. You are able to let the game know how well you ate, how much water you took in and other activities from the day before. After you work out and journal, you get the medal for the day; bronze, silver, or gold. As you continue to work out, you earn trophies as you reach goals which is fun. Want to see more? Watch me in action below!
Cons: The straps on the band are nylon and although they are strong, they bothered my hands. I’d like to see a rubber used instead, I feel like it would be less irritating. I also think the game incorporates a few too many squats. I thought I was generally careful about how I did my squats. I watched my form, and didn’t get lazy, however I found my knees bothering me at times. Granted, I have problems with my knees and had one of them scoped at age 15, so this may be just me. However, I found myself skipping some of the exercises that involved a lot of squatting when my knees were bothering me.
It would also be great to have the game ask for measurements to you can track your progress as you lose weight AND inches.

I actually already use a video game system as great exercise. I use my kid’s dance dance revolution while they are at school. But don’t tell them!!!

Cold weather will keep me indoors and less active. This Wii interactive exercise system just may work for us.

If I do my exercising before checking emails or watching TV, etc, I tend to get it done. I live workout DVDs – try collagevideo.com.

My suggestion is to make sure to give yourself plenty of time, when I get into working out I can sometimes feel like going quite a while longer and always feel more accomplished when I have enough time to fit it all in.
[Reply]
My best tip for working out is to get up early. Otherwise you won’t find the time in the day to get it done!

I do lots of walking at work, so I usually have a pedometer on to try to hit my 10k steps every day.

My tip for getting my workout in is to make sure the kids have what they want/need to keep them busy for as long as possible! Good luck, it’s nearly impossible when you’re a mom but try anyway!

I like to walk around the park.

The only way I can get my workout in is if I include the kids. They love to workout, and I can keep an eye on them while I workout.

Most people do not like working out for hours at a time. This is a definite turn-off to working out. I like to work out for 25-30 minutes a day, but it has to be intense. For example, if you are like me, and you like the elliptical machine, intervals are best. Get the heart pumping, fast, slow, fast, slow, etc. If you do it this way 25 minutes is all you need. Too many people make the mistake of working out for 45 minutes, for example, at the same pace. Yes, you burn calories, but that’s about it. Also, another tip, change things up. Don’t do the same things over and over again. Spicing things up make working out more interesting and doable in the long run. Thanks for the giveaway.

I get my workout in by walking my kids to and from school each day.
[Reply]
Well, I could really use some of these tips since I have been having more and more trouble getting out to excercise with the quickly shortening days. My best tip would be to get excercise equipment to use at home so that you don’t have to worry about leaving you house to workout every day.
[Reply]
i have chosen the time right after the kids go to bed because it is a time that usually happens most nights, where I am home. I usually run on the eliptical while watching the television, so i can’t use not being able to see this show or that show as an excuse.
[Reply]
I like to get my workout in early in the morning, before my babies wake up. As the day goes on, I have less energy and I come up with very compelling excuses.

I love running its so rewarding when your done! Thanks!
