Tinytongs – Review & Giveaway (closed)
Utensils for Children
Eating can be extremely messy when you have a baby or toddler learning to feed themselves with utensils. I remember both of my boys wanting to hold the small forks and spoons when they were 8-10 months, but had no idea how to use them. They’ve gotten better over time, but it’s always nice to be able to have an aid. Tinytongs are child sized tongs that allow your child to eat easier and get smaller bites of food into their mouths.
Pros: I think that Tinytongs are fun, innovative child utensils that are help your child eat and were inspired by a mom. At about 5 inches in length, they are perfect for little fingers. The sides have a rubberized grip which makes them easy to hold, and they have no sharp corners or edges.
Since Tinytongs are recommended for ages 12 months to 5 years, both of my boys were able to try them out. Chandler, the older of the two, thought it was fun, and it actually encouraged him to eat more. He got the concept of the tongs down quickly and they were easy for him to use.
Rowan, not quite 2 didn’t care to use them as much. At this age, he is pretty good with a fork and spoon and I don’t think he understood the entire concept. I think if I had introduced them at an earlier age, it would have helped.
Tinytongs are dishwasher safe and hold up wash after wash. They don’t lose tension and come in 4 bright colors.
Cons: I can see how even though these are meant to help kids eat easier, that it could be frustrating for a toddler when they are first trying to get the hang of it. This was definitely the case with Rowan.
I also think that Tinytongs are priced a bit high which could be a turnoff for some parents. At $7.99 a piece, this is generally higher than what I would spend on an eating utensil for my child. I think they would be better around the $5.00 price range. You can buy them in a 4 pack for $24.99, which brings the price down to just over $6.00 per Tinytong.
