Halo Wars Aerial Ambush from Mega Bloks Review
Halo Wars Aerial Ambush from Megabloks is based on the game Halo Wars. This set is bound to be a hit with boys this holiday season. Because the suggested age is 8+ and my boys are too young for it, we needed an opinion of an older kid. Luckily for us, my brother in law Parker who is 8 was down here this last weekend. He was more than thrilled to try it out because these are just the type of toys he is into right now.
Pros: This set is great for boys who love any building with construction sets and then letting their imagination go wild. I was overwhelmed when I saw all of the pieces but my hubby, brother in law Parker, and Father in law got started on it right away. At 370 pieces, it seemed like it would be quite the task. Chandler wanted to help out but since he’s only 4 he got the task of watching and yelling out, “Oh cool!”

When it was all said and done, Parker had 3 awesome ships and 4 different figures. He didn’t let any of it out of his sight the entire weekend. I have to admit that the ships were pretty cool all put together and even though my hubby might not openly admit it, I think he liked building them as well. Plus, he got to spend some time with his little brother that he doesn’t see all that often. Want to see Parker’s overall impression? Watch the video below:
Cons: Yes, it is 370 pieces and I think all three of them worked on it for over 2 hours. I can’t imagine a child 8 and up trying to put this together by themselves, it seems like it might be a bit daunting.
There were also a couple of pieces that kept popping off. I don’t know if it was just this set or if other sets have this problem as well, but the purple ship had a hard time staying in tact during Parker’s battles. Because it is a toy for older kids, make sure to keep up out of reach of little hands. Some of the pieces are tiny and would be a choking hazard for a smaller child.
