Escape from Adventure Island
Just a few months ago, we were able to try out Jumpstart’s very first Wii game, Pet Rescue.  Jumpstart is about to release another exciting adventure for Wii, Escape from Adventure Island.  ESRB has ranked this game as “early childhood” and it is geared towards kids ages 5-9.  Coming from Jumpstart, I had high expectations.  Chandler loves to play games on Jumpstart’s online site, and really likes Pet Rescue so I was excited for him to try out this new game.

About the Game
Escape from Adventure Island is designed for children between the ages of 5-9.  It’s an action-packed game that invites players to use their explorer skills and brain power to find a way to escape the mysterious island that they crashed landed on.  As players race to collect the pieces needed to repair their blimp, they will navigate 3D worlds both above and below the water.  Along the way, players will practice over 150 math, reading, and critical thinking skills all while having fun!

Playing
When you first load the game, you have the main menu. From there you have the option to go to Story Mode, Practice or Profiles. Once in story mode, your child can use the Wii remote to navigate their character. They also have the option to use the nunchuk to help them move around. Chandler prefers to use the Nunchuk. Like Pet Rescue, Escape from Adventure Island is easy to navigate and there are so many choices to choose from.

Although Chan is still a bit young for this game at age 4, he was able to play the games on their easiest settings, and was learning at the same time. Once in a game, you can choose a Lesson, the curriculum level you want, as well as a game level.  In story mode, your blimp has crashed on an island and you need to buy helium tanks.  (You can see this part in the video below.)  In order to buy helium tanks you need to complete levels and games which earns you sand dollars.Overall, this is a great learning game with great graphics, a fun story mode, and empowers kids to learn.
