Animal Friends
What a great sampler of episodes from many of Nick Jr.’s friends! Included in this DVD devoted to animals, are episodes featuring the Nick Jr. friends of “Dora The Explorer,” “Go Diego, GO,” “Wonder Pets,” Yo, Gabba Gabba,” “Blues Clues” and “Ni Hao, Kai -Ian.”
147 minutes in length.

Dora’s Christmas Music CD
It’s never too early for Christmas music. And when you mix Dora the Explorer with traditional Christmas music, you get a Dora spin like no other. The original lyrics of many of the Christmas tunes are adjusted slightly with Dora language, such as “Sleigh Ride with Dora and You.” There are nine tracks and seven additional tracks that are featured in an all- new Holiday Movie, “Dora’s Christmas Carol” to be released in early November. An added bonus is the addition of a Christmas game, titled ” Dora’s Christmas Carol Adventure” that my older daughter found actually kind of fun. Sixteen tracks is a bit much of listening to Dora sing, so that is where head phones come in handy. Nonetheless, it is a fun CD and had my girls up and dancing around.

Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom
Dora is off on another adventure to “save the Crystal Kingdom from the Greedy King!” Along the way, Dora encounters knights, dragons, magicians to restore color to the the Crystal Kingdom.

Also in this 92 minute DVD, are included two bonus magical adventures, “First Day of School” and “Boots’ Banana Wish,” and a DVD game.

This imaginative feature film was a huge hit with my resident Dora fan, my 8 year old daughter. Apart from teaching basic concepts like matching, counting and identifying different colors, the added bonus when you watch Dora is that you learn a few Spanish words as well.

Pros:

The DVD’s and CD were very creative and inventive.

Cons:

Sixteen tracks of Dora singing was A LOT to listen to! However, like I said earlier, that is what earphones are for, and my 8 year old couldn’t get enough of Dora The Explorer’s version of “Feliz Navidad.”

The Bottom Line:

Apart from the DVD’s and music being very engaging for your preschool and elementary school child, they teach good concepts of working together, learning a few new words in two different languages and modeling problem solving.
