“There’s a party in my tummy! Go Yummy, Go Yummy!” Obviously Yo Gabba Gabba is on my mind, and that happens to be one of the phrases the DJ Lance Boombox uses. I honestly didn’t know much about Yo Gabba Gabba before, but I’m learning quickly and my boys are as well. The DJ Lance Boombox from Mega Brands is a great Yo Gabba Gabba catch for this holiday season.
Pros: The set is 25 pieces and is very versatile. If you turn the boombox one way, you can build up blocks and your turntables. Yo Gabba Gabba characters can be placed on the turntables as well and spin around. Turn the boombox the other way, and you have a storage container for your set which makes for easy cleanup.
The music is fun and is original from the series. If you notice in the picture below, there are 4 buttons on the top side. You can push these to hear music and then mix with the button in the middle. It makes for a fun different twist on each song.
I also like that you can turn the volume down and off. Every toy needs to have something like this!
Cons: I mentioned above that the boombox has storage space. If you don’t place all of the pieces just right, they don’t fit. It would be a nice improvement to make the boom box a bit deeper to accomodate the pieces better. You can see in the photo below that the pieces that are in there fit fine, but once we tried to fit the characters in, it was hard to make it work.
Other than that, I think it is a fun toy for a great price.

While I have to say this looks cool, we’ve pretty much stayed clear of YGG. I watched it with my son once (and we watched it only once) and I had to wonder what the dickens everyone was inhaling while making the show. I like things out of the ordinary but YGG is just WEIRD to me.

Our son LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba second to only the Wiggles. I am sure he would love this toy as much as your son did.
