It’s amazing to think what kind of toys were cool when I was a kid. I remember getting excited over a little keyboard or a baby doll. Then I look at what types of toys kids have to play with today and am in awe. There are toys that are interactive, encourage kids to exercise and even help them learn. The Vtech Ride & Learn Giraffe is all of that and more. It’s a fun and entertaining toy for kids aged 18-36 months.
Pros: The Ride & Learn Giraffe is so easy to put together. Below are the pieces that it came with. Sometimes I cringe when I see that a toy has a lot of directions or is complicated when it comes to putting it together. It took me less than 10 minutes and was really easy.
Once it was assembled, Rowan hopped on and kept saying, “Wow! Wow!” It was fun to see his reaction as he explored the different functions. The Ride & Learn Giraffe has a lot of fun features such as:
- Five modes of active play
- The more your toddler pedals, the more they learn
- Has an LCD screen
- Adjustable bouncy seat
Although it is recommended for kids aged 18-36 months, it can also accomodate a child up to 42 lbs. Chandler had fun playing on it and even though he just turned 4 he is only about 37 lbs so I was ok with him playing with it. The base is sturdy, overall it’s a pretty fun toy.
Cons: Rowan is 23 months and didn’t quite get the pedaling at this point. I’m sure in a few months or with some practice it will get better.
I also felt like it would be nice if the seat were a big closer to the handle bars. He had to learn forward pretty far to hold on, even with the seat all the way down. It would be nice if the seat could slide forward and back.

I think next Christmas I will have to get the Vtech Vsmile Vmotion learning system. I tried it out in the store and fell in love. We have a Wii to play at Mimi’s house, but I just wish some of the games were more geared towards toddlers. My son would want to play the games regardless, but I don’t want him too discouraged!

It is so cute! My son is still re-finding his toys every morning. It is a little like a bunch of mini Christmases. I am sure if he saw something wrapped right about now, he would dive in! Just makes me smile to watch his sheer delight.

I am not sure why Christmas only takes up 2 days on the calendar. I think it should be a 2 week block on the calendar. It takes a week before to prepare… i.e. get the tree, decorate, bake & cook… and then the week after to get everything back to normal. My kitchen is almost there but my fridge is going to need some TLC.

My son also received a Black & Decker tool bench and tools from his “Bop” (grandpa). I would never have thought to get it for him, but he absolutely loves it! It is so nice when someone guesses correctly for a child. Though, I think his Bop was as excited as he was to play with it.

During the Christmas Holiday my son discovered the Pixar Cars characters. I am not sure what the name of the character was, but he absolutely loves the rescue helicopter. This morning he kissed it and took it with him to breakfast. Heaven help me if he looses it!

I think I enjoy after Christmas the best… things are getting back to normal with all our schedules, and I can sit and play with my son and all his new toys. Right now we are working on a large tower of blocks! This afternoon I will help him with some of his new eletronic games. Vtech games are the best!

I am happy to see how easy it is to find Vtech products even here in my little town of Southern Oregon! Just about every store carries some. Our Walmart and Fred Meyers definitely had great selections of their toys.

I was excited to see how big of a selection of Vtech toys were available at our local Toys R Us. I still have my eye on the Kidizoom camera, but I did pick up a couple of games for the Vtech Pocket my son got. He is a huge fan of Thomas and I also got a Kung Fu Panda game. Very cute!

I am amazed at how long we can live off of Christmas leftovers! From the basics like mashed potatoes and ham… to the soup we made from the prime rib bones and the cookies and sweets. Holidays are such a wonderful time of the year.

I am now excited to get started on making presents for next Christmas. I have decided to make my daughter a rag doll and felt food, and my son will need a chef’s apron and more dress-up clothes. I am sure that I will have more ideas as the year goes on, but it is never too early to prepare for Christmas.

Now that Christmas eve and day are over, the Christmas sales and clean up are in full swing. This is the time of year I love to buy my wrapping paper, bows and gift tags. Stored properly, I will have everything ready to begin wrapping next season!

I just want to leave it out there. If you give a gift to a child that is a toy that needs batteries… buy the batteries too!! Of course little man got 1 gift without batteries and that is the one he wants to use. We don’t have any AAA batteries for your Christmas gift.
