I've loved my last three cars actually , I had a Chevy Suburban (when gas was under a million bucks a gallon) and then a Chevy Lumina (my husband wrecked that one)
and now I have a Chrysler Pacifica and it's my favorite car ever! It has the same engine (made in the same factory even) as a Lexus and you can tell by the way it drives. I bought it from a Dealer who had bought a fleet of them from a rental company and it only had 17000 miles on it (and I got it for a steal) It now has over 100,000 and I've never had any major (knock on wood) work done besides maintenance. Not sure with the state that Chryslers in right now if they still make the Pacifica but if they do (or if you can find a good used one) I'd recommend it highly. P.S. I found my last 3 cars on Autofinder.com too! You just type in type or what car you're looking for and a list of new or used (your choice) comes up in your area!

Hmmmm....the only car I ever drove was an orange convertible cabriolet. It was pretty old though and I am not even sure if they make them anymore. Honesly, since the economy got so bad, I have been biking long distances more, and my legs look great! :)

Hello, A Honda or Toyota is going to cost you. Even the used ones are high priced. We bought a GMC Envoy used a few years back and I love it, but it was before the gas got expensive and it's a gas hog. When my son needed his first car we did a lot of research and decided on a Hyandai Elantra for it's saftey features. Side airbags in the front and back and the high marks it got on Edmunuds etc for being good used cars. I finally found one on Craigs list by a private owner that was the cheepest, lowest mileage and still under warranty. We've had no problems thus for except for his 2 fender benders....probably driving too fast on snow. I know it's a hassle but it took us a few weeks of research to find a good match. I would definatly go with a private seller, dealers are a pain and make sure you get a carfax report before bying anything. Good luck!

We drive the ugliest cars but we don't have a car payment and haven't had any major problems with either of them. Jason drives a Ford Taurus and I drive a Hyundai Accent. We've had them for 5+ years with just minor wear and tear issues. They are so old, a '95 and '96 with lots of miles so we've been waiting for them to die on us since we've been married but they're still going strong! Not the best to look at but reliable.

I drove a Volvo wagon for over 200,000 miles while my kids were little. A deer ran onto the road and I hit it, it got up and a Toyota coming the other way hit it ... and the dang deer still got up and ran back down the driveway. It was to costly to replace the hood, the lights, the one quarter panel on a car that old. I ended up with a Suzuki SX4. The most economical AWD you can find. It only seats 5 and I've been very happy with it. Like many dealerships, the local one closed and I wouldn't recommend buying a car that you have to travel over an hour to get to the dealer.
There are dealerships out there offering free oil changes for life, free in warranty service, free loaner cars if you buy a new car from them - that kind of bonus really adds up.

Once you get past warranty, things wear out and you have major tuneups that do cost. In the big picture, those costs are a lot less than buying a new one. If its your car and you know its history, there is less of a panic about not trusting them though. We sent our kids to college driving our 'old' cars.

I hear you ~ it is so scary to drive a car that you always worry something is going to go wrong. Especially when you have little ones too. Now with our little one we decided to spend a little more to buy a used Toyota.

It's funny how everyone has their own experiences with cars and what they would say is a good car. We've had no problems with our Toyota's (albeit that they are the older models). We loved our Dodge truck that lasted forever. When I was young our Honda was the driving force for our family. We had an Altima that didn't do very well for us however my Grandma loves hers. Good luck in your search. I know how frustrating and rewarding it can be to find the right car!

We have had our Chevy Malibu since 2002 and have had no problems with it. It has over 200,000 miles on it and is still running great! I absolutely love our car and would defiantly buy it again!

I do love my Honda. Have been driving Hondas for decades ummm, quite a while now. Occasionally I hear of one that is a lemon, but that is very rare. They last forever and you get great gas mileage. Heater works well which is important here. And a Honda, no matter the size, can carry home treasures of all sizes. I feel very safe in mine.
