Photo Books by Photoworks
There are times that I wish I were more crafty or creative. When it comes to decorating or coming up with fun ideas, I draw a blank. Scrapbooking is another one of those things. It takes a lot of money and time to invest. I will do a page, it takes me an hour, and then I end up hating it. That’s why photo books are the perfect solution for those like me. About a week ago, I made a photo book of Rowan’s first year, using Photoworks.
Pros: It’s fairly easy to create an account on Photoworks. Once you create your account, you can start browsing products. After looking through my options of photo books that they had, I chose the Precious Boy one.
After you choose your book, you can start uploading photos. Uploading time was very quick, but I guess that can depend on your internet connection as well. Once I got all of my photos uploaded, I started creating my book. You can change the layout of your page according to the number of pictures you want, if you want text only, or if you just want a blank page. Once you place a picture in your book, there’s a little page tab that appears over your picture so you know that you’ve already used it in the book. I thought this was extremely helpful.
I also like that there is a caution sign that pops up if your picture isn’t of good enough quality to print up. After putting my book together, I was able to proof it to make sure everything was spelled right, and that I had the right pictures where I wanted them. I made an 8 1/2 x 11″ book, which start at just $39.95. I added about 15 pages to mine, and each additional page is only $1. The entire book took me about 3-4 hours to do which I thought was very reasonable. The finished product was absolutely beautiful and the quality was great. The shipping was incredibly fast. I chose regular shipping, and had my book in hand in 2 days. They tell you to allow 3 days for processing, but mine was shipped the day after I created it. The book was shrink wrapped, which was nice protection as well. Overall, I think I would go back to American Greetings to make photo books in the future.

Cons: There are a few things that I think could be improved upon. It would have been nice to be able to change the text – size, font, or color, while I was doing text in my book, but there is no option for that. I also had one time that the book froze up on me. I kept getting error messages that I had used too much space and I had to close my browser window. I’ve never had this happen on any other website when creating a photo book, and I have used 2 other services. I’m not sure why it did this, but it was a bit frustrating.
Price: $39.95 for the 8 1/2 x 11″ Other smaller photo books start at just $16.95
Where to Buy: Photoworks
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of American Greetings PhotoWorks and received a free photo book to facilitate my review.
