Secrets of the Mountain
If you’ve stopped by to visit in the last couple days, you know that I’ve been in NYC. My first trip there, and it was for a great reason. Walmart and Proctor & Gamble have paired up to present a great family film; Secrets of the Mountain.

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical coming in, wondering just how good the movie would be. Before viewing it, I had read up a little about it and watched the trailer. Before I tell you what I thought about it, here is some background info:

Plot Summary
Somewhere between the demands of her career, her ex’s wedding and her kids’ busy schedules, Dana James is noticing her tight-knit family starting to unravel. An unexpected offer to purchase her family’s mountain property sets up a weekend road trip, which she hopes will bring her family back together. But when they arrive, they quickly learn that the mountain is much more than it seems. An ancient secret and a treacherous quest will test the family like never before. It’s an edge-of the-seat thriller that reminds us that when times are tough, families don’t run away from problems – they run back to each other.

My Take
Those producing this movie really got it right. I know they were aiming for a good family film that would appeal to kids as well as adults, and they hit it right on the head. It had suspense, great acting, a cool story line, and was something the whole family could sit down and watch. It also showed real family problems and how the family came together to work through them, which I think is an important lesson for us all to learn.

I thought it was interesting to learn at the screening that the idea actually came from moms. We really are more important than we think, aren’t we? The music was also done by Randy Jackson who is an amazing family man. There are some very familiar names among the soundtrack including Brooke White and Jordin Sparks.

There are so many movies out there now that aren’t 100% appropriate for kids, and this is definitely not one of them. As a mom, along with my husband, we feel a responsibility to censor what comes into our house. And as a mom, I would recommend Secrets of the Mountain to any who might be interested in watching it.  I really loved the movie and going to NYC to watch it was just awesome.  Here are some of the great people I met while there.
