Explore With Backyard Safari Outfitters
Exploring the Outdoors
Boys and bugs. They just seem to go hand in hand. At least they seem to with my boys. On top of that, they also love exploring and just being down in the dirt. This is something I’ve had to get used to as I’m not exactly a bug person. If my boys see a bug, they are down on the ground with it. If they aren’t quite sure how something works, they ask. Well Chandler does anyways. Rowan is still a 2 year old and just accepts things without question at this point. Backyard Safari Outfitters has some fun toys for kids that make summer and exploring a lot of fun. I’ve even found myself getting caught up in the bug action.

A few weeks back, we received a Land & Water Periscope, Cargo Vest, and Bug Vacuum. Once we pulled them out of the box, Chandler was so excited to get out and really use them. First off, the bug vacuum. This really is an ingenious little tool. It includes two catch and release capture cores and even has a built in magnifying glass. There are 3 settings depending on how much suction you want as well. When sucking up a bug, you simply pull the trigger to turn it on, put the vacuum over the bug, and wait for it to suck up into the vacuum. The magnifying glass actually turns to the side to let bugs out, and then can cover the core so that the bug can’t escape and you can look at it up close. Chandler has caught all sorts of little spiders, ants and even some roly polys. The roly polys were a little bit more stubborn coming up, so the suction isn’t great for bigger bugs, but Chandler is excited with what he gets. This toy is recommended for kids ages 5 and up and retails at $19.99.
Next was the super cool cargo vest. Chan loves wearing this around even when he isn’t exploring or catching bugs. Although it’s a bit big for him, he’ll have years to play with it. The material is a poly-twill and I can definitely tell it is going to hold up. It also has all sorts of pockets and rings for carrying everything important you need. It includes a field pop up guide which Chandler pulls out all of the time for “reference.”
The cargo vest is also suitable for ages 5 and up and retails for $19.99
Lastly is the land and water mega view periscope. It has three sections and when extended is 48 inches long. It also is submersible when you want to view underwater which is a cool feature. Chan used it mostly for peeking into windows, but I’d love to have him be able to use it in a lake. Maybe if we go camping later in the summer we will have to tote it along. This toy retails for $24.99.
Overall, they were all very cute and fun toys. Backyard Safari Outfitters has other products that I would love for Chandler to have, because I love seeing him explore and watching his imagination. Here he is exploring….
