Mommy Makeover
If you could have a makeover done since having kids, what types of things would you have done? Since having my two beautiful boys, I’ve often thought about procedures I would have done in the future. Don’t get me wrong, my boys are definitely worth EVERY stretch mark, and every saggy part I have, but there are parts of me that won’t change no matter how much I exercise. When you gain more than 1/3 of your body weight being pregnant, and don’t have the best genetics, there are things that are bound to change. Below is a picture of me pregnant at 32 weeks with my first little boy. (You wouldn’t believe how big I got, since I carried him 9 more weeks.) I had the start of stretch marks on my lower tummy, but they really started to come up after that. Alas, this was the last picture I took without my shirt down because I was self conscious.
After I had my healthy 9 lb baby, I realized my body would never be the same. As I said above, it’s a very small price to pay to have a beautiful child, but like I also said before, no matter how much I exercise, my tummy will never be the same. My abs split in pregnancy, and never came back together. This is called diastis recti. I can easily stick two fingers between my abs, and because of this, I will always have a pooch. I’ve tried hard to tone those ab muscles, and have been running 15+ miles a week for the last 5 months along with toning exercises with no luck. Along with this split in my abs, I have a LOT of extra skin. When you are stretched to the max, you are left with extra skin that just hangs there. Lovely visual, right? I think that’s why down the road I would consider getting my diastis recti fixed, along with a tummy tuck. Granted, that’s years down the road when I’m done having kids, and is a very personal choice, but I would like to have it done. I’m curious to know, if you could have a mommy makeover free of charge, what would you have done?
