iphones & Apps
I got an iphone about 5 months ago. I love it, and I live on it. The capabilities are amazing, and the applications run right along that line as well. It’s also been a lifesaver when I’ve been out and about with the boys and we’ve had to wait somewhere. Instead of getting crazy and crying, they can watch cartoons I’ve downloaded, or play with one of the many apps that are age appropriate for them. One app that I was just introduced to – My Living Stories. I don’t think there could be a better name for them. What exactly is this app? Interactive stories for your child.

About My Living Stories
Upon downloading some of the books that My Living Stories offers, Chan was excited to try them out. They are extremely easy to navigate. Simply click on the app, choose your language (English or French), and play the story. Once you play the story, you can also choose to play it with music only, (for older kids who can read), or with the narration. One feature that I found really fun, was the ability to record your own voice and use it as the narration. I recorded my voice on the princess and the pea, and it was fun and easy. Plus, it’s a voice that the boys recognize when they read the story. I also like that these books are interactive. With the simple touch of a screen, you can hear fun sound effects, depending on what is on the screen. Here is a short video of Chandler loading and reading Little Red Riding Hood.

The illustrations are beautiful, and at 99 cents a piece, they are definitely worth downloading from itunes for your iphone or ipod touch. My Living Stories offers these different books: Princess & the Pea, King Midas, The Tortoise & the Hare, Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. My kids definitely loved them, and as a parent I’m glad to know that these exist and to have them on my iphone. Books on the go have never been this easy!
