Elmo Toys from Sesame Street – Review
Elmo
Elmo has been around for quite some time. I remember him when I was little, and now my boys are growing up with him. Chandler liked Elmo much more than Rowan has, and we went through a phase where all Chan wanted to watch was Elmo’s World and play with Elmo toys. Not only is Elmo lovable, but so are many of the other Sesame Street characters. Did you know that Sesame Street has an online storefront? Sesame Street recently sent us a few items from their store to try out. They included Elmo’s 3-Book Play-a-Sound Set and the Elmo Shower Sprayer.
Play-a-Sound Set
The play a sound set was an immediate hit. The set comes with three different books, and one sound strip. What’s cool about this product is that the sound strip can be taken off the book, and makes different sounds on each book. So in reality, you are getting 3 different sound books. Titles include:
- Wake Up Elmo
- Let’s Sing
- Sing With Elmo
The sound strip is easy enough for my 4 year old to slide on and off each book, but is sturdy enough that when my 2 year old throws the book around, the strip doesn’t come off.
The sound part is easy to push and includes fun sounds and music. The set is only $11.99, so it is an exceptional value for what you are getting. I would definitely recommend this book set to any toddler aged child.
Elmo Shower Sprayer
Initially, I was really excited to get this sprayer for the boys. I’m always on the lookout for great bath toys as they love to take baths and love great toys that they can play with in the tub as well.
The concept of this toy is fairly simple. You suction Elmo so the side of the tub with the suction cups, and wait for the water in the tub to fill up. Once the tub is full, your child pushes the large star button on the front, and water is taken up through the tube on the bottom and through the sprayer. When we first tried to use this toy, it would not stay suctioned. The toy is actually quite heavy, and is only held in place with the two small suction cups you see below.
On the instructions, it says not to use in a textured surface. I wouldn’t consider our bathtub to be textured, but it isn’t 100% smooth either. We have used other suction typed items before that haven’t had a problem staying. I’m planning on buying a bigger suction cup so it will stay put. The boys get frustrated with it easily and don’t want to play with it. This is definitely an improvement I would suggest.
If you have a completely smooth tub, this would be a great toy for your child. It’s fun and easy to play with, and provides lots of bath time fun.
You can find both of these Sesame Street Toys at their store.
