Getting Some Zzzzzz’s
Getting a good night’s rest is so important to me. I think it is to everyone. If I don’t get enough sleep, my functioning level is so much lower during the day. Sleep is also important for kids. They do a LOT of growing and sleep is an essential part of that. Since Rowan was about 7 months old, he’s had breathing problems.  His Pediatrician diagnosed him with pediatric asthma and we’ve struggled on and off with it.  It’s hard watching your child struggle to breathe or wheezing. Part of me wonders if has allergies as well, but he’s never been tested. So I’ve already established that sleep is important, but allergies can hinder that. That’s where Natura World comes in. After hearing about their natural wool bedding, I was naturally curious to see if they would help Rowan and his breathing.

Did You Know?
From Natura:

Parents of kids with allergies know just how many things kids can be allergic to – pets, lotions and certain foods. But what you may not realize is how bedding can contribute to (and increase) allergic reactions. Sneezing fits, rashes and general discomfort can rob children of a good night’s sleep and risk their health in a multitude of ways.

Bedding made from synthetics contain agri-chemcials, pesticides and, yes, and even perfumes. What’s more, synthetic bedding traps moisture and makes your child’s bed a breeding ground for dust mites, bed bugs and other nasty creatures that jeopardize a healthy night’s sleep.

Natura’s earth-friendly, expertly-designed bedding minimizes allergic reactions and over-delivers on comfort.

Scientific studies show that children who sleep on wool significantly reduce tossing and turning, enjoy a deeper sleep, steadier heart rate and an overall improved quality of sleep

Pros: Natura World sent us the Sleep Envelope to use on Rowan’s bed. The envelope includes the Washable Wool Comforter and the NaturaProtect Deluxe Matress Protector. Right out of the box, I immediatly realized how great the quality was and how super soft they both were. The wool comforter has a cotton sateen cover, which is one of the reasons it feels so soft.

Both my boys have matching bedding with duvet covers. As I pulled the current comforter out of Rowan’s duvet, I almost felt bad that it was what he was sleeping with. I could see and feel the difference in quality and realized that it might have been adding to his breathing difficulties. This bedding also helps banish common allergens which I was excited about as well. The comforter is filled with smart wash wool, and I must say it does wash up nice without clumping or losing shape.  Something else that was cool that I learned:  The wool inside the comforter is like a mini air conditioning unit, taking moisture from your child’s bed and releasing it to the environment. It never feels wet to the touch, which means your child enjoys a naturally temperature-regulated sleep environment – every night.
The mattress protector is awesome as well. When you have small kids, a good mattress protector is a must have. Especially one that is waterproof, which this one is. It’s treated with Natural Silver to eliminate bed bugs, dust mites and other allergens on contact. It also has all of the great aspects that I already mentioned about the comforter.

Rowan has been sleeping on on the mattress protector and with the comforter for over a month now. We haven’t had to use his inhaler/spacer, which is fabulous! Now I wonder even more if he has allergies. I don’t think I could say enough good about this sleep set.

Cons: Every product has to have a con right? As I sat down and thought about the past month and our experience with Natura World products, I couldn’t think of anything that I didn’t like about them. As it can be with many products, the price point may be high for some. However, I think of all of the medical bills we’ve paid for Rowan and the health problems he’s had and have decided that you just can’t put a price on good health, being able to breathe, and a good night’s rest. No Cons. Really.

Price: The Sleep Envelope is $384 for a twin set. You can also buy the products separately.
