Holiday Treats
Can you believe Christmas is almost here? One thing that I have to do during the holidays to make it complete is make yummy goodies. In fact, I am headed out today to get everything I need to make holiday goodies all day long. Then of course, I’m going to eat myself sick and my boys will be bouncing off the walls. But it’s the holiday season, right? Kroger and Chex have teamed up this holiday season to give a great price on Chex cereal, and some yummy holiday recipes that you will be sure to enjoy. Until December 25th, Kroger stores will be offering Chex cereal at the lowest prices of the year. I’m looking forward to going in to see just how much cheaper they will be than normal price, and I will definitely be stocking up as Chex is a favorite cereal of Chandler’s. Since I am doing holiday treats today, I’ve narrowed down to a few recipes and then will share a holiday treat post later in the week.

Chex Holiday Recipes
Chocolate Chex Caramel Crunch
You can’t go wrong with anything crunchy drizzled in caramel and chocolate. Did I mention you can make this in the microwave in 15 minutes?

Ingredients

  • 8 cups Chocolate Chex® cereal
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup white vanilla baking chips

Preparation Directions
1. Into large microwavable bowl, measure cereal; set aside. Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.
2. In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave brown sugar, butter and corn syrup uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in baking soda until dissolved. Pour over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Microwave on High 3 minutes, stirring every minute. Spread on cookie sheet. Cool 10 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces.
3. In small microwavable bowl, microwave vanilla baking chips uncovered on High about 1 minute 30 seconds or until chips can be stirred smooth (bowl will be hot). Drizzle over snack. Refrigerate until set. Store in tightly covered container.
