A Better You, A Better Me
I am a woman, a mother, a wife, a blogger, a full time student, a runner, a powerhouse! You might be wondering why I say powerhouse in the end? It’s definitely because I choose to lead a healthy lifestyle, and be a good example for my kids. THAT makes me a powerhouse. This didn’t come as some great epiphany and I don’t have an amazing story where I turned a 180. I’ve basically learned over time to listen to my body, to give it what it needs, and to supplement it with vitamins in order to become a better me.

Nature Made Contest

My everyday life is hectic. Actually, I think the word hectic is an understatement. School (for me and the kids), commute, clean, homework, play, blog, sleep, REPEAT! I have so much on my plate, that I’m not always getting everything on my plate that I should. 😉 I’ve also seen from working in the medical field just how much poor choices can affect your body. You only get one, so take care of it! I have 6 different supplements that I take on a daily basis:

Multivitamin – for overall vitamins and minerals that I may be missing. It also helps my energy levels.
Glucosamine – to support joint health and build cartilage. (Running is hard on those joints, and I do a lot of it!)
Acidophilus – to keep my digestion on track.
Vitamin C– to protect against the sickies. I don’t have time for downtime!
Vitamin B12 – Because getting up at 5am is never easy, and I need that extra energy boost.
Magnesium – to maintain nerve and muscle function. I helps convert blood sugar into energy.

I am what you would call a visual learner. I learn better when I see things in action. Therefore, I’m going to SHOW you what a day in my life is like, my supplements, and why they make me a better me.

I could go on and on about supplements and their benefits. My best advice would be to look at your current habits and eating patterns and then look at where you might be deficient or what would help you. Nature Made has a cool vitamin supplement quiz that only takes a few minutes, and pinpoints what supplements you should be taking. This is definitely beneficial, as going to the vitamin isle at any store can be overwhelming if you aren’t sure what you are looking for and what your body really needs.

Nature Made a better me

Lastly, taking vitamins not only makes for a better me, but for two better little boys. They see mommy taking her vitamins every day. My 5 year old asks me questions and what they do. As a parent you lead by example. My boys take a multivitamin and vitamin C to supplement their diets as well. They are learning it’s important because they see me doing it and know why they are important at such early ages. I want to see my two adorable boys grow to up healthy and strong.

The definition of Powerhouse: a person, group, team, or the like, having great energy, strength, or potential for success. Yep, that’s me. Empowered by my decisions, healthy lifestyle, and by vitamins.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Nature Made and received promotional items to thank me for taking the time to participate. Vote for my entry at between 9/20/11 and noon (PT) 9/26/11.

Love the video! We eat vegan and try to stay as raw as possible so the only real vitamin supplement that we should be taking is B12 thanks to the farmers depleting the soil over the last 100 years or so.

    Great post!
