Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
When the weather starts to cool down, we go through a lot of hot chocolate in our home. We like to dip grilled cheese in it, drink it with tons of marshmallows, or have it as a treat to warm us up after coming in from inside. I love this slow cooker hot chocolate recipe, and the good thing about this is that it’s ready when you come inside or come home. No having to heat up water, microwave separate cups, etc.

Creamy hot cocoa for your slow cooker
Ingredients
- ½ cup dry baking cocoa
- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 7½ cups water
- 1½ tsp vanilla
- marshmallows
Instructions
- In slow cooker, combine dry cocoa, milk, and salt. Stir until smooth. Add water gradually, stirring until smooth.
- Cover and cook on High 2 hours, or on Low 4 hours or until very hot.
- Just before serving, stir in vanilla
- Top each serving with marshmallows
This is the first time I have heard of using a slow cooker for hot chocolate. Going to give this a try.

Holy cow, this sounds delicious! I have never heard of it being made in a slow cooker, not to mention the pictures you have make me want Hot Chocolate more then ever. Thanks for the great recipe

Ok, I have to say this is a GENIOUS idea! I love my slow cooker but never thought about making drinks in it. We are hot cocoaaholics so this would be perfect after being out in the cold for a few hours and coming home to cocoa ready to go. LOVE IT!

Did I read that correctly … dip grilled cheese in hot cocoa? Marshmallows, graham crackers, a candy bar even, but grilled cheese? LOL
The grilled cheese thing aside, this is the first time I’ve heard of making hot cocoa in a slow cooker, I’m def. gonna have to try this.

LOL – Are we really that weird? Yes, dipping grilled cheese in cocoa is splendid. Everytime we make grilled cheese, we have cocoa. Maybe it’s kind of like dipping french fries in a milkshake theory. Very yummy as well. 🙂

I would have never thought to use my crockpot to do hot chocolate and I have never heard of dipping grilled cheese in it. We love hot chocolate and we fix this Christmas morning right before we wake the kids so they can drink while we open gift, This would be the perfect way to have it ready. Yeah, I didn’t think of it either until I saw the recipe. It’s perfect for days that you know you are going to want it and want to eliminate the prep work beforehand.
