Meeting My Goals
Back in January, I set out on a quest with Slim-Fast as one of their women of wow. My goal was to lose some weight and also meet a time goal for a half marathon, which was 2 hours. I’ve had two kids and was about 135 lbs before I got pregnant with my first. I gained a lot of weight with both of my boys and have never been able to kick the last 10 lbs to get back down to my pre pregnancy weight. With the two goals in mind and Slim-Fast products to help me out, I knew I would be able to achieve my goals. Since I was training for a race, I knew I would gain more muscle. Ultimately I wanted to get below 140, but knew it would be a stretch to get back down to 135. With the exception of a few indulgences here and there, I stuck to the plan. The Slim-Fast plan has you eat 1200 calories a day, I stuck to about 1800 because of how much I was exercising. For my half marathon training, I was consistent in working out 5-6 times a week. I’ve seen changes in my body and feel more physically fit than I ever have in my life.
Last Saturday was my half marathon. My brother, sister and good friend also ran. My friend and I ran together. She’s normally a faster runner than me but said she wanted to run with me. I knew she would pace and push me. The morning of the race I was incredibly nervous. Shaky, cold and a whole lot running through my mind. I’d been experiencing some pretty bad side aches on my runs the week before and all I could do was hope that I didn’t get a side ache this particular morning. In order to finish in 2 hours, we had to do a 9:11 mile. The first mile I looked down at my watch and we were doing about a 9:07 mile. I felt good and so did my friend so we pushed it more. Over the next few miles I couldn’t believe how great I was feeling. We were doing 8:40 and 8:50 miles. I don’t normally ever run that fast and I was surprised! I listened to my body and we walked and drank powerade through every aid station. At about mile 12.5, there was an uphill part. I was incredibly tired and started slowing. My friend kept giving me words of encouragement and telling me I could do it. We got over that last hump and sprinted to the finish line. Our official time: 1:58.36.
I am absolutely over the moon about this!!! I’m excited to see a goal that I didn’t know was attainable totally is. I know that Slim-Fast products helped me get there and they’ve inspired me to push further. I’m signed up for another half marathon in July and will run a full marathon in September.
As far as my weightloss goes, I’ve lost 6.5 lbs. I’ve never been able to lose this much and to do it in about a 3 1/2 month period is even more impressive to me. I’m really going to push to get even more conditioned and am determined to lose the last few lbs. I will continue to use Slim-Fast to reach my goals and am excited to set my next wow moment.
If you are new to Slim-Fast products and haven’t tried them before, I definitely urge you to try them! The taste is fantastic, they are full of essential vitamins and minerals and have a good balance of proteins and carbs. My personal favorites right now are the chocolate nougat gone nuts and the creamy milk chocolate shake. Both are so so yummy and satisfy my sweet tooth craving.
I truly love sharing products that I love and over the past 4 months I’ve come to love Slim Fast more than I did when I started.
