Free Country Outerwear
Although I’m more than ready for summer to be here, it’s important to stay warm until nicer weather arrives. It seems to have been a frigid and snowy winter here in Utah. I’ve been looking to get a new coat for some time now as my winter coat is from high school. Yes, it really is that old and is definitely outdated. I’ve browsed around a bit but couldn’t find anything that seemed really warm but that was within my price point. In February, I was introduced to Free Country.

They sell winter coats, spring jackets and other outerwear for the entire family. I went with the Women’s Arches Powder Down Jacket. This jacket not only seemed warm but stylish and is reasonably priced.

My first impression of the Powder Down Jacket was how lightweight and soft it felt. It’s filled with down and the lightweight of down definitely keeps you warm. To be honest, I was worried about the fit. I don’t often order outerwear online because at 5’9″, it’s hard to get sleeves that are long enough for my monkey arms. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit. I ordered a medium and am about 140 lbs.

The coat is built with a butterpile lining and trim as well as a hand gaiter. If you don’t know what a hand gaiter is, it’s a thumb hole opening, which allows you to put your thumb in, thus covering your wrist and top part of your hand. I love the idea of this, but unfortunately it’s too short on me. The hand gaiter gives me enough length that the coat sleeves are long enough, but it’s not quite long enough for me to wear the gaiter comfortably. I can see it being great for someone who might be a few inches shorter.

It is water resistant and comes in 5 different colors. I have the purple moon color and have gotten various compliments on the color. The faux fur trim hood is a nice touch as well. The coat is machine washable which makes it easy to toss it in the washer when it gets dirty. The arches coat is water resistant and has some great pockets inside, including a music pocket.

Retail price for this coat is $160, but it is on sale for $70 right now. Overall, I’m really pleased with this coat and would order from Free Country in the future.  You can also find Free Country at retailers like Sears, Kohls and JCPenney.  They make quality products at great prices!

I received a sample to facilitate this review, however all opinions remain 100% my own.
