Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 Tablet Review
It’s amazing to me how far tablets have come over the years. I think about what types of technology I had growing up and what is available to my kids now. My 7 year old has been wanting his own tablet for a while and it just didn’t seem like something we could justify. Kids are hard on things sometimes and electronics can definitely be pricy. I had no idea how affordable tablets had really become until I was introduced to the Lenovo IdeaTab, which you can purchase at Staples for $129.99 We’ve owned a few different types of tablets and I was interested to see what this one could do.

The Lenovo IdeaTab was pretty simple to use, especially if you’ve ever used an Android device. I had an Android phone for quite some time and everything from the play store to where you get apps to the ease of use is very similar. The screen has great resolution as is very crisp which is one of the first things I noticed when I booted up the tablet. I do think it would be nice if the screen could be a bit brighter. Even on the brightest setting, it seems a bit dim to me in daylight. If you are inside or using it in a low light setting, the brightness is really not an issue. My boys watch a lot of movies via Netflix and I don’t think a lower brightness really bothers them. The sound while playing movies or games is actually very good. They are located on the back bottom and I was impressed with how loud they are able to get.

All of the options are easily outlined in the system settings menu which can be accessed from the bottom of the home screen. You can personalize and change everything from display and audio profiles to your accounts, language, apps and more.

Although this tablet has a camera, I wasn’t impressed with it at all. It’s only a 2MP camera in the rear and a .3MP front camera. It’s nice that it has the camera, but don’t expect to get any quality shots. I think this is to be expected with a tablet that is under $150. Below is a picture I took outside with good light.  It’s pretty tiny and if you try to zoom in on it, it gets really pixelated because it’s only 2MP.

The touch screen is pretty sensitive which is nice. The IdeaTab has a gravity sensor which allows rotation of the device depending on what way it is facing. You can zoom in and out and scroll with ease with one or two fingers. Sometimes it does take a bit for apps to load. This could be due to a slightly slower processor.

As far as being compact, this is a good tablet for that. I can easily fit it in my purse as the longest dimension is 7.56″ The screen is still 7″ which is a pretty great size and it’s actually great for small hands. It’s also proven to be durable which I wish I could say hasn’t been tested, but it has. My boys have dropped it on the floor multiple times and while I cringe a little when it happens, let’s just say I cringe more if it happens to our $600 tablet.

Overall, I’d say this is a good little tablet if you are looking for one that is affordable. I’m no expert when it comes to tablets, but it’s pretty easy to pinpoint what I liked and didn’t like. It’s easy to surf the web, watch movies and play games. As far as the features and processor go, it’s not the top of the line, but acceptable for what you would expect from a tablet that is $130. I would definitely get this for someone who just wants the basics or for an older child who really wants a tablet.

It’s surprisingly not too pricey! I don’t think I’m a big tablet person. I own the Note 2 and that’s a giant in itself!

I’m amazed at how inexpensive these tables are getting. I just got my first one earlier this year.

I think the tablet my dad received for Christmas is similar to this one. It was also reasonably priced, but he prefers his iPod Touch because he was use to the speed. Bryson plays with it more than anyone else, so I would think it would be best for kids who don’t mind it being a bit slow.
