Life Insurance: Are You Covered?
My husband and I have been married 9 years. We’ve built a pretty amazing life together and the last 9 years have already gone so quickly. I can’t imagine life without him, he is my rock and I rely on him so much. Although we do depend a lot on each other, we’ve been mindful of our finances and what we would do if one of us were to pass away unexpectedly.
The first safeguard that we took was for me to go back to school about 3 years ago. I graduated in Ultrasound, a field where I could provide for my family if need be. If my husband were to die or be out of work, I feel that I could provide a fairly comfortable lifestyle with my job. That doesn’t mean that all of our expenses will be covered though, or that I would be able to pay for something unexpected if it came up. This is where Life Insurance comes in to play.
Life Insurance might not be on the forefront of your mind, but after knowing how much it can help in times of need, I think it is definitely important. My husband and I are currently covered by a life insurance policy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you aren’t familiar with Life Insurance, or are looking for a policy, Genworth is a wonderful resource.
Genworth has resources that can tell you the different types of life insurance that exist, how much you need and directs you on how to buy it. I actually didn’t realize before doing a little research that there were different plans that existed like Universal, Term and Whole Life Insurance. The monthly premiums actually seem like they would be very affordable as well. I entered a few numbers into the Life Insurance calculator and it estimated that my payments would be around $20 a month. That’s definitely affordable.
