Motorola MBP34T Wireless Video Baby Monitor
One item of baby gear that I knew I was going to need this time around was a good baby monitor. I had one that I used with my boys, but I never really liked it that much. Too much static, interference with other baby monitors, and the range wasn’t what I wanted it to be. Plus, it seemed to suck up the batteries and I was changing them all of the time. I was pleasantly surprised to see how far monitors have come when given the chance to review the Motorola MBP34T Wireless Video Baby Monitor.
The Motorola MBP34T is a 2.4 GHZ wireless easy to use monitor that will give you peace of mind. Included in the box are a parent monitor, rechargeable battery for parent unit, camera, travel case, and cords for parent monitor and camera. You can see all of these items below.
After looking at the instruction manual, I knew the monitor was going to be very user friendly. I had all of the controls figured out in a matter of minutes and setup was a breeze. The parent monitor boasts a 3.5″ diagonal color screen and the picture is quite nice and clear. You are able to turn the video on or off with the push of a button from the monitor. It also has volume adjustments and brightness control. One feature that I really love is being able to talk to the baby through the monitor. You simply push the microphone button, and you can talk to baby while from another room. The sound on both ends is really quite clear with no interference which is something that has deterred me from other baby monitors in the past. The parent monitor also comes with a rechargeable battery and AC adapter. The unit will charge when the adapter is plugged into the wall and then can run on the rechargeable battery without the adapter. I like this feature because it really saves money when you are using a monitor on a daily basis. The monitor also plays lullabies for baby and has a range of 590 feet. The unit will alert you when the battery is low or when you are out of range.
The camera for this unit is small and lightweight. It also comes with an adapter, but does have to be plugged in for you to use it. I would like to see a battery made for the cameras as well so that if you have a power outage you are able to still use it. One very nice feature is the night vision. You can see baby even at night due to the infrared night vision and the lights that illuminate on the camera. The camera can be manually adjusted to show a different view and there’s even a zoom and temperature control built in. These are options you can see on the parent control while looking through the menu.
Since I really am a hands on learner, I created a video so that you can see an overview of the monitor in action and all of the controls.
The MBP34T comes with a handy travel carrying case which I think will be great when we are visiting family out of state. The fact that it is small and lightweight makes it ideal for travel as well.
A few improvements that I’d love to see in the future to come include wi-fi or bluetooth capability. It would be awesome to be able to sync it with a phone and essentially use that as a monitor. I also think it would be nice if the camera were not manual, but were electronic and able to pan up and down using the parental control. Extra cameras are also a bit pricey. They retail for around $100 per extra camera. I think the price point would be better and more appealing at around $60.
Overall, this is really an awesome monitor and I can’t wait to see how it holds up longterm and how we like it when the baby comes. You can buy the Motorola MBP34T Baby Monitor through Walmart for $199.
