Hard to Digest
One of my favorite parts of being a parent is hearing my kids say hilarious and witty things. It happens almost daily and I try to remember to write those moments down. I think comes down to the fact that some things are hard for kids to digest or understand.
I remember one night at dinner when I was about 5 months pregnant. My 7 year old kept looking at me and finally got the point that he was just staring at me. I finally asked what was on his mind. He told me that he didn’t think the baby would appreciate me dumping food on her head. He thought that the food went from my mouth, directly onto the baby’s head. After a good laugh, I explained to him how the baby got her food. Although I don’t think he fully understood, it was funny thinking about how he thought things worked. It’s a little easier for him to understand how she gets her food now that she’s been born.
Not only are certain concepts hard for kids to digest, so are certain foods. So many foods are heavily processed, have preservatives or just cause allergies in kids. Rice Krispies is not one of those foods. Because it is made with rice, it is naturally easy for little tummies to digest. Plus, who can resist the snap, crackle and pop of it? Rice Krispies put out this super cute video that goes along with things being hard for kids to digest. It’s definitely a question that I was asked by both my boys not that long ago when I was pregnant with our daughter.
What was a concept that was hard for you to digest as a child, or for your children now?
