Personalized Birth Announcements
Now that my sweet baby girl is almost 2 months old, I am finally getting her birth announcements out. It seems like time is just a blur after having a baby so I’m excited that I’ve got most of her announcements addressed and ready to go. This go around, I used a service called InvitationBox. They specialize in all sorts of photo cards, personalized invitations, birth announcements and more.

After looking through a bunch of the designs, I decided to go with the Posh Baby Girl announcement. I loved the fact that I could use 3 photos, that it had various fonts and that the back had a pretty design. These particular cards started out at $2.29 and became cheaper the more that you buy. I like that you can get a discount if you buy more. Once you select a card, you can easily upload photos and change the font, text, size and more. The whole process of uploading pictures and changing the text took me less than 10 minutes and it was straight forward and easy to do.  Here’s what my proof looked like:

Once I had the announcement done, there were 3 different designer review options to make sure that they get it right.

  • Option 1: You can choose to send it directly to the press if you are 100% happy with it.
  • Option 2: Digital Proof – Your design is reviewed by their experts and you are e-mailed a digital copy before it is printed.
  • Option 3: Platinum Service – The experts at InvitationBox will ensure that your design is flawless with extra advice and care.

I ended up ordering 35 birth announcements and noticed that they came with free thank you cards. Prior to checking out, you get to choose a design of thank you cards and get the same number of thank you cards as product that you ordered. So I received 35 FREE thank you cards along with my birth announcements. I thought that was a nice touch.

You can also add addresses, foil liners and have them ship the invites for you if you prefer. Although I didn’t use this part of the service, I thought it was nice to know and have.

I chose standard shipping and it was about a week from the time I received a shipping notice to the time that I got them. I thought the turnaround time was acceptable. As far as the final product, I was happy with how they turned out. If you look really closely, the pictures are a little grainy, but I’m not sure if that’s just because of the paper they are printed on. You don’t notice it at first glance, but have to study the picture to see it. I mostly noticed this because we paid a good amount of money to have professional pictures done by Baby Bare Photo.  I had prints printed up from a professional printing company and compared the quality of the Invitation Box vs. my professional prints. I still am happy with how they turned out, but the quality does suffer just a bit.  When I look at the overall announcement though, I think it’s pretty darn cute.

Overall, I would order from InvitationBox again. The process was easy and the finished product was nice. I think that $2 per card is a little high, but there is a 20% off coupon you can use if you use code SALE20. You also get the free thank you cards with each order. This is a great offer, especially when you pair them with holiday cards or invitations!  They offer so many great products, it’s worth checking out.

What do you think of Nova’s announcements? Will you be ordering holiday cards in the coming months?

Your announcements are adorable! Thank you for reviewing this vendor. I am dissappointed to hear that even professional images come out a little grainy (I am waiting on christmas photo cards from them). Also—how tacky that they put their name on the back in such a large fashion! I think this would only be acceptable on the envelopes, or VERY small on the card itself…Even worse, there is no way to see that this is what the back is going to look like (on their website they don’t offer a full view of the back). Glad this was a sample for you and you didn’t need to spend $$. Did you end up getting announcements from another service also?
