I’m about 8.5 weeks postpartum and after walking for a couple weeks, I’m ready to get back into running. I wanted to take some pictures as a baseline to see where I’m at now and to also track my progress. I’ve also signed up for some races next year and will be running a half marathon in April, a full marathon in May and Ragnar, which is a team race in June. I’m going to be checking in periodically on my progress and thought I needed some baseline shots. My pre pregnancy weight was 138, so I’ve got about 18 lbs to go. I’m not a fan of fad diets and you won’t see me doing them. I’m a believer in good old clean eating, portion control and exercise.

- Exercising: I can run at a 5.0 for about 5 minutes before I feel winded. I’ve been alternating running and walking depending on how I feel and have been doing 2-3 miles a day to ease back into things. I’m going to focus on some cross and strength training to try to get my marathon time down. I’m also easing into my Skora shoes for running which are a cross between regular and minimal running shoes.
- Eating: Eating is hard for me, it’s my biggest weakness. I could exercise for hours, but put a soda or a treat in front of me and I’m definitely tempted. I’m keeping lots of fruits and veggies in the house and when I get a craving I’m going to those.
Typically, I hold onto about 5 lbs until I am completely done nursing so I know that I can’t have unrealistic expectations. I’ll be checking in with updated shots every few weeks so you can see my progress!
