Holiday Meals from Dickey’s
If your family is anything like mine, holidays revolve a lot around food. Growing up, we had sandwiches with all the fixings, salads, and cold shrimp for Christmas eve. Late Christmas morning, we would have brunch which included things like ham, eggs, crepes and more. I loved having these traditions growing up and the delicious meals that we shared. The holidays are stressful enough, so while preparing for those big meals, why not have some help?
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has you covered this holiday season. With locations across the country, chances are there’s one close to you. If you aren’t familiar with Dickey’s, here is a little background from their website:
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit prides itself on authenticity, innovation and barbecue sauce, one store at a time. With roots in Dallas, Travis Dickey set out to perfect Texas-style barbecue. In 1941, Travis Dickey opened the first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Dallas, Texas. Space on the restaurant’s sign was rented out to help pay the start-up costs for the restaurant and the menu was limited to beef brisket, pit hams, barbecue beans, potato chips, beer, bottled milk and sodas.
Today, every location smokes all of their meats on-site at the restaurant the same way it was done in 1941. Dickey’s serves up beef brisket, pulled pork, ham, polish sausage, turkey breast and chicken, with an extensive array of home-style sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with the complimentary ice cream and dill pickles. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday.
This last weekend, my parents were down for the weekend. Since we just moved into a new home, I wanted something that would be fast and delicious. I called ahead to see what Dickey’s had available and decided to get a beef brisket for the family to eat. I sent my husband to get the brisket and texted me a few minutes later telling me just how amazing it smelled. Dickey’s slow cooks their brisket for 14 hours and has lots of other whole meats, so it’s not wonder it smelled so amazing. When he got it home we started slicing it up. Below is a picture of our beef brisket. Is your mouth watering yet?
The beef brisket did not disappoint. It was tender, juicy and was packed with incredible flavor. There are other great cuts of meat including ham, turkey, pulled pork, ribs and chicken. Ordering is easy. You can call ahead or order online, which is incredible convenient. I can’t wait to try some of their other whole meats and think that our family has a new favorite place to eat!
