Fun Ways to Decorate a Child’s Room
Decorating a child’s room can be a fun-filled activity that both kids and parents can participate in and enjoy. The sky is the limit as there are literally hundreds of creative ways to give your child’s room a brand new look. Let your imagination run wild and spill over onto the walls and the ceiling of the bedroom.
Is Batman your son’s favorite crime fighter? Transform his room into his very own Batcave to allow him to play out his fantasies of becoming Bruce Wayne. If your daughter is fond of dolls and stuffed animals, instead of buying her a dollhouse, why not make her room resemble one instead?
Whether you’re planning a superhero’s headquarters, a life-sized doll-themed room or just looking to simply revamp your kid’s room design, you could use a bit of help in sourcing the materials and inspiration needed. Here are a few tips of what you can use and where to get started on decorating:

A new coat of paint
Sometimes, all a room needs is a brand new coat of paint as an instant pick-me up. Brighten up the mood of the room by using warm, pastel colors or create a soothing environment by using a more natural palette. Often, painting a room can be a great starting point for most room design projects. Remember to always use non-toxic paint especially if your child has allergies. Another good tip to keep in mind is to ensure that whatever paint you use makes cleaning easy, especially if your kids love to dirty the walls with handprints or crayons!

Create a wall mural or use decals
Most kids would feel ecstatic at the idea of having their favorite fictional characters or cool looking designs adorning their bedroom walls. Instead of posters, consider drawing murals or purchasing decals which you can add to a wall. Pinterest is an excellent place to look for ideas and be inspired by creations from across the web.
To get you started with budget-friendly art materials to create decals, the best way to source them is to look online. is a great website to check out, which has hundreds of listings of art supplies to kickstart your very own DIY mural project.

Fill your kid’s room with artwork
Foster your child’s love for creativity by decorating his or her room with artwork. Spending time making crafts or pieces of art is an excellent way to bond with your children and encourage them to flex their creative muscles. These can range from drawing, paintings, papercraft, plaster models; the list goes on and on!
Not only does displaying artwork and craft in your children’s rooms enhance the overall vibe, it also develops a sense of achievement and accomplishment.

We are boring….we don’t do anything fun with our rooms. Well, we are renting right now so that’s a deterrent too. I can’t wait to have our own place again because I told my husband I am going to decorate the way I really want to. No holding back. 🙂

We’ve used a variety of those techniques over the years. When our daughter turned 8 for her birthday, my husband painted her room to look like the Mystery Machine because she was so into Scooby Doo. We added a cute flowered border to mimic the flowers on the van and a bunch of peel and stick Scooby decals. It was really cute, and didn’t cost us a lot except for time.

I am a huge fan of decals for the wall. I think it is a great way to add some personality to the room and you can take them down whenever. SO as you grow or change your taste, you don’t have to repaint to room each time! Just stick to a more neutral color and add some personality with decals!
