The Benefits of Compression Wear in Running
I have a little bit of an obsession when it comes to running clothing. Over the years I’ve developed a strong preference on products and what works for me and what doesn’t. Tommie Copper is a new brand to me. It’s one that I actually wasn’t familiar with, but after trying out some of their products, I know that I will definitely be investing in more.

Tommie Copper specializes in compression wear which is definitely very popular right now when it comes to runners. Some companies say that compression pants actually help with performance, but after using many different brands, I know that isn’t the case. I’m not suddenly able to run a 7 minute mile for hours on end, but I do notice a huge difference with my recovery times, especially when it comes to the compression capris that Tommie Copper sent. I’ve used the capris on 7, 9 and 10.5 mile runs. Normally I would be reaching for the ibuprofen on day 2 or 3 after a run longer than 5 miles. With my compression capris I notice a lot less muscle soreness and less muscle fatigue. The product simply works by applying compression to your legs which in turn gives you increased blood flow and oxygen to the muscles.

The compression capris are incredibly comfortable, moisture wicking, are anti-bacterial and anti-odor, due to the activated copper that the compression wear is made with. They are UPF 30+, which protects skin from 97% of harmful UV rays. The material is made of 57% Copper-Nylon, 29% Nylon, 14% Spandex. They wash up nicely and I’ve washed mine about 5 times. They recommend not using fabric softener or the dryer. I wash mine in cold on the delicate cycle and line dry them. They also fit true to size. I still have a little bit of baby weight to lose, but I currently am 147 lbs and am 5’9″. I’m wearing a size 8 pants and ordered the medium. They are a perfect fit and will still fit when I lose the last 7-8 lbs that I need to lose. Priced at $79.50, they are competitively priced as compared to other items on the market like it.

Tommie Copper also offers compression socks which I’ve been able to try and work well.  Other products include compression sleeves, shirts and tanks.
