Kid’s Summer Activity Jar
Last year before the summer started, I came up with a calendar so the boys knew what to expect each day. Until a few weeks before the baby came, we were really structured and it actually made for a fun summer! I’m planning on doing our Summer Quiet Boxes again but I also thought I’d take some of those fun summer ideas floating around and make it into a fun activity for the boys.

You’ve seen the lists floating around of fun things to do during the summer, right? Well if you look through them, a lot of the activities need some sort of prep to do. I decided to take some of our favorites that we wanted to do this summer and let the kids choose 2-3 at the first of the week. Then we will plan a day for the specific activity to ensure that we are ready. This is fun not only because the kids get to do activities they want to, but the anticipation of choosing them out of the jar at the first of the week is fun as well.

I kept it to 25 different activities. Some cost money, some do not. You could tailor your jar to fit your budget and needs for your kids.

You can use this Summer Fun Jar printable for a fast and easy jar. Just click on the Summer Jar printable, print on fun paper, cut, fold and stuff into your jar!

Most of the activities I have outlined are pretty self explanatory, but here are links to some that you might need directions for:
Rain Gutter Race Track
Shaving Cream Art
Obstacle Course
Homemade Play-doh

Great idea! I did something similar last summer with destinations that we wanted to visit. It made it easy to decide what to do when no one wanted to make a decision. 🙂
