Workout With The Biggest Loser + Giveaway

Working Out At Home
On days that you don’t find me on the treadmill, I’m most likely cross training. More often than not, I will pop in a home workout DVD and get going. I find that I get some good cross and strength training this way as well as some variety. I have somewhat of a large library of workout DVD’s, and I pretty much know within the first 10 minutes if it is a workout I am going to like and utilize more than once. Lionsgate has a great lineup for the New Year of workout videos. Over the past few weeks, I’ve tried out 3 different workout videos which I will highlight here.

The Biggest Loser At-Home Challenge
The Biggest Loser At-Home Challenge is a variety of cardio and strength training. In the video you will find:

  • Warmup
  • Phase One Cardio
  • Phase One Strength
  • Phase Two Cardio
  • Phase Two Strength
  • Cool Down

If you exercise with the entire DVD from start to finish, it is 50 minutes long. It features at home winners from contestants of previous seasons like Heba and Bernie. Being that I’m already in pretty good shape, I decided to do just that. I felt like the phase one cardio and strength were challenging, but not nearly as challenging as phase two. Phase two is solely Bob Harper, and boy does he push you to your limit. I like the mix of cardio and strength training and this was a great video for this. I was absolutely exhausted halfway into the last strength training segment and sore for about 3 days after. This is definitely a great workout DVD and even if you don’t have a lot of time, you can get a great workout with one cardio and one strength training segment in just 20 minutes. You can buy Biggest Loser: At Home Challenge through Amazon right now for only $8.73. A great price for a great workout DVD.

The Biggest Loser Calorie Knockout
In this DVD, you join your three trainers Bob Harper, Anna Kournikova and Dolvett Quince for some great cardio cross training circuits. The video includes:

  • Warm-up
  • Circuit 1
  • Circuit 2
  • Circuit 3
  • Cool Down

The circuits are 15 minutes each with the warmup and cool down each being 5 minutes. This starts much like the at home challenge one did. Earlier circuits are a bit easier than circuit 3 which is definitely the most challenging. This DVD really got my heart rate up and used a lot of kickboxing. I absolutely love kickboxing, so it was fun to have it integrated into this DVD. I liked having the different trainers use their favorite training methods as well. Total running time on this DVD is 61 minutes, and you can also buy Biggest Loser: Calorie Knockout at Amazon.

Billy Blanks Jr. Hip Hop Mix
The last DVD that I tried out was Billy Blanks Jr. Hip Hop Mix. I own some of Billy Blanks Kickboxing, so out of curiosity, I was interested to see what Billy Blanks Jr. had to offer. Like any other dance workout, you start from the top, learn moves and continue to add one. The DVD includes a Warm-up, Hip-hop, Hip-hop Samba, Hip-Hop Bollywood, Dance Challenge and Cooldown. As someone who previously danced, I found the steps easy to catch on to and fun. For the not so coordinated, I’m not sure this would be such a fun DVD. You do build on each move, so it gets repetitive. That’s great for the first couple of times, but I couldn’t see myself doing this over and over. I also like the type of exercises that really get my heart rate soaring and push me to my maximum. I didn’t feel like this workout did that. I was breathing a bit harder and having fun, but when it came down to it, I didn’t feel like I’d had a wonderful workout. It’s one that I feel pretty neutral on but can’t see myself doing it over and over. Total running time is 52 minutes and you can buy Fat-Burning Hip Hop Mix for $8.99 at Amazon.

Wittlebee, Monthly Child Clothing Delivery + Giveaway

Monthly Clothing Delivery for Kids
I do most of my shopping online. With two little kids, going to the store isn’t very appealing. Aside from groceries, 90% of my shopping is done online. Easy, convenient, and no kids to wrestle. :) Since I am about ease and convenience, I appreciate services like Wittlebee where you can get your kid’s clothes delivered every month. Having gone through the experience myself, it’s one that was pleasant.monthly kids clothes delivery

About Wittlebee from their website:

Wittlebee is a monthly clothes delivery service for kids. We aim to keep parents well stocked with the basics like onesies, t-shirts, socks, leggings and more. We create custom packages for our members based on their child’s age and other preferences. We don’t carry any silly patterns or logos. Just simple colors along with soft and safe fabrics. Members receive a shipment of clothes every month with sizing that grows as your child does.

My Experience
Basics are something that is always needed with an infant or toddler. Layering is a must for me in the winter and so my boys have a good variety of basic tees, pants and more. However, these aren’t always easy to find and I have to be on the lookout for them. That’s where WittleBee came in handy. Servicing newborns up to 5 years, Wittlebee provides you basics that you don’t have to hunt for. Their shipments include trusted names that include Carter’s, American Apparel, Baby Gap, Cottonseed, and Baby Jay. Because you know that you can depend on those brand names, you’ll always get quality clothing. Rowan will be 4 next month and has just started wearing a 4T. I don’t have much leftover from big brother as that was the age he started to wear a lot of clothing out. It’s been really cold here, and I needed more basics for him. The process was really quite simple.

The day after I ordered, I got a personal phone call from someone who works at Wittlebee. She was very pleasant, answered my questions and got a feel for what I wanted. I told her I wanted mostly navy, black and gray, but was open to some color as well. I wanted a hooded sweatshirt included and more t’s than anything else. She answered all of my questions and it added a nice personal touch.
Less than a week later, a box showed up on my doorstep. I was pleasantly surprised to see what was inside. A nice note was included on the top, and the presentation of the clothes was well done. I love seeing a good presentation when I get an order in the mail.

My box contained 4 pairs of thick warm socks, 4 tee shirts, 1 hooded sweatshirt, and a pair of play pants. All articles of clothing were American Apparel, which I was more than fine with. We’ve had American Apparel before and I know that they are great quality. I love that these basics are versatile.

I do think the sizing on the pants was a little bit off, they ran small. They are just the right length before washing them, and most other 4T pants are still a little long on my guy. Other items were true to size though.

The process was easy and I think it’s an incredibly smart service. This is a service I would definitely use on more of a regular basis when I had a smaller child as it only goes up to 5T. Don’t want the service every month? Just let them know. You can choose to skip a month or only get an order every 3 months. I really like that you have this option.

Overall, Wittlebee is a service that I would definitely recommend. Shipping is always free, so the monthly service is all that you pay. I would like to see the $39 option include more items of clothing or specify what two extra articles of clothing you are going to get, but overall I had a very positive experience!  You can get 50% off your first month NOW, just click here!

Toyland Express Book + $50 Visa Gift Card Giveaway

Toyland Express Book
Reading with my boys is one of my favorite things to do with them. We have a bedtime ritual where we read together. I never realized how much it’s helped just to read until my kindergartner came home with his sight words that he had to know by the end of the year, and he knows most all of them! This Christmas Eve, there will be a special gift under our tree. Along with the boy’s jammies that they get every year, there will also be a book for us to enjoy before bedtime. Can You See What I See? Toyland Express!, is going to be that book. Not only will it be fun for us to read together, but this particular book is a search-and-solve picture puzzle book. That means that the gears in their little heads will be turning. :) Walter Wick is author of the book, and if he seems familiar, it’s because he also authored the I Spy Series. We have a few of the I Spy books, so Walter Wick was in our collection even before this book.

About Can You See What I See? Toyland Express!

CAN YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? TOYLAND EXPRESS, the eighth title in the bestselling search-and-find series, follows the life of a toy train from the workshop to the attic, only to be rescued at a yard sale and brought to life once again in a new home. As readers search for more than 250 hidden objects, they will also notice how the train takes on various transformations along its journey.

Here is a behind the scenes look at how Walter Wick is inspired and makes this book come to life:

Definitely one I would recommend, this book retails for $12.99 at Scholastic, but you can buy it through Amazon for $8.87 Can You See What I See? Toyland Express!

Chex Party Mix Up Treat Exchange + Giveaway

Chex Party Mix Up Treat Exchange
Chex is one of those very versatile cereals that can be eaten for breakfast, or dressed up for a dessert or snack. This holiday season, instead of making cookies and all sorts of candies, a great idea would be to have a Chex Party Mix Up Treat Exchange. We actually went to a treat exchange this year in our neighborhood and it worked out so great. Instead of having to make 10 different treats for 20 different neighbors, we all make bulk and shared!
I’ve made Chex a few different ways and the Chex party mix website has a lot of great ideas for yummy treats. My no fail is the Chex Muddy Buddy recipe. This totally brings back memories from my childhood of times when I had it, and my boys love it as well. What’s also great is that you can include your kids in on making these because they are simple!

Chex Party Recipes
I wanted to feature one other recipe that could be fun for a Treat Exchange, but you can view more recipes of Chex Party Mix.

Chuggington Let’s Ride the Rails Playtable + Giveaway

Chuggington Train Table
Anytime we go to a toy store that has a train table, the boys are automatically drawn in. This goes for friend’s houses too. I’ve thought many a time about purchasing a train table for my boys, but wanted to get a good one that would last. They’ve always played trains on the floor. (And I wonder why they always have holes in the knees of their jeans….) Anyways, I was so excited to see that Chuggington was coming out with a train table that also doubles as a play table. To say that it felt like Christmas for my boys the day that this showed up would be an understatement. They were so excited, and all about helping daddy put it up.

About the Chuggington Train Table from Learning Curve

Build a world of Chuggington on this fun, kid-friendly table. Just the right height for little engineers to create and play for hours of fun! The Chuggington Wooden Railway features fun, kid-attractive colors, super- simple magnetic couplings, and chunky designs just right for those adorable little toddler hands.

Our Experience
The table came in all sorts of pieces, and I’ll be completely honest, I’m terrible at putting things together. I always seem to get things not in the right place and frustration gets the best of me. Luckily I have a patient husband who is great to put things together and smarter than me when it comes to following instructions. The boys were all about helping him put it together, and within a half hour, the table was up for business.
I’m not sure exactly how much this table weighs, but it feels really sturdy. Not that I can’t lift an end or move it, because that’s totally doable, but it just feels very sturdy. The boys are loving a place to have their trains. It’s a good size table and by my measurements, it’s 50″ long, 34″ wide, and stands about 17″ off the ground. With it being just over 4 feet long, I think it’s about the perfect size for train sets. We’ve had two different sets set up on it at one time. You can see all of your child’s favorite characters all around on the outside of the table. The ends have bumpers which are a great idea if you have toddlers in the house. No sharp corners which I appreciate. The top of the table has a fun design on it, and the inserts on the inside feel like they are a sturdy wood.

I’m not sure if they are particle board or wood, but they’ve already taken a beating. I found my 35 lb 4 year old up dancing on it one day, and although he knows he’s not supposed to do that now, the table stood it’s ground. ;) I’ve actually noticed that the boys will play with the trains longer if they aren’t kneeling and having to get around on the ground. The train tracks stay put better on a harder surface than on our carpeted floor, so the boys aren’t getting frustrated that tracks are falling apart. It’s also easier for them to move around the table to actually play with the trains. You can watch the video below to see our table before it is setup and what it looks like with tracks on it.

This table also doubles as a great play table. They’ve played all sorts of other toys using this table so has multiple functions.
The table gives you some room underneath for storage as well since it is 17″ off the ground. Great place for storing extra tracks. I don’t have any complaints thus far and wonder why we didn’t get a train table sooner! The table retails for $249.99, but I noticed that Amazon has it for $219.99 right now!

Where to Buy: Amazon – Chuggington Train Table or find a retailer through Learning Curve.

Plus Up Your Day With Kellogg’s FiberPlus ($100 American Express GC Giveaway)

Plus Up Your Day
I don’t know about you, but as a mom, it seems like I am constantly doing things for others, especially my kids. While being a mom is the biggest blessing and I love my kids, it’s also extremely exhausting. Sometimes we get so involved that we forget to do things for ourselves. When was the last time you did something for you? Or better yet, what would you do if you had no kids for a day and $100 just to spend on YOU?
Kellogg’s FiberPlus gave me a chance to plus up my day recently, and I definitely enjoyed it. Along for the ride was one of my favorite snack products, the Kellogg’s FiberPlus Caramel Coconut Fudge Bar. Before I tell you exactly how I spent my American Express Card, here’s a little info on Kellogg’s FiberPlus Bars and how they can help plus up your day.

About FiberPlus Bars
Great for any time of day, delicious Kellogg’s FiberPlus® bars are like a nutritious delight. Many Americans aren’t getting enough fiber, whole grains, vitamins and minerals daily.1 With 35% of your daily fiber*, 7 grams of whole grains, plus antioxidants vitamin E and zinc, these bars offer great-tasting nutrition.

How Did I Plus Up My Day?
My ideal way to plus up my day would be with some shopping! Hubby and I headed out to do some black Friday shopping. It was so fun, and nice not to have two little boys crying or asking for everything in the store. Although there was a ton of chaos everywhere we went, it was nice to be able to talk to my husband without getting interrupted and we were able to get some much needed Christmas shopping done. Afterwards, we got some breakfast and hot chocolate which I absolutely loved. We also had some FiberPlus bars stashed in our car to help us with energy while we fought the crowds.

Chocolate Caramel FiberPlus Bar

I actually got another special treat the next day, and that was a girl’s afternoon out to see a movie. Again, it was nice to have some time away from the kids, and I honestly don’t remember the last time I’ve seen a movie without the boys or one that wasn’t animated.

FirberPlus also has other items to plus up your day, including their FiberPlus Cereals. I really like eating this cereal to jumpstart my day. I’m up at about 5:30 am and out the door by 6:30 am. Sometimes I don’t get a break until lunch, so I need something that will keep me full. The FiberPlus cereals do a great job of keeping me full, but they also taste really yummy.  The Berry Yogurt Crunch is my personal favorite.

My Take
First off, this app is free which definitely makes it appealing and would make me curious as a user. I spent some time exploring the different features on the app and there were things that I loved about it, and things that I thought could be improved upon. The news and videos areas are a really great idea. This is a good resource for a mom and it seems like they are being updated on a regular basis, especially the news portion. There were great ideas, articles, tips and ways to be frugal. You can also view tweets to babydot. My favorite part of the entire app was the more icon which was on the bottom right. Here you can see baby books, visit the amazon baby store, see links, photos, join the mailing list view top users, and favorite certain pages. I mentioned that you can favorite certain articles, videos and more. Here is my favorites page where I bookmark items that I particularly like. I liked this as it means that I have easy and quick reference to items that I really liked. It’s easy to favorite an article, book or video. There is a heart shaped icon on the page that you are viewing, and all you have to do is tap it. Below, you see the more page, along with my personal favorites page.

Something that I think really needs some improvement is the chat area. It seems to be one solid feed with not a lot that would engage parents. You can reply to another mom/parent, view everyone’s location on the map and see photos. I think this would be better served to have subtopics that would be more engaging for parents. For example, within the chat area, I’d like to see a sub area for introductions, baby talk, etc. Get my point? I also tried uploading a picture and the app wouldn’t let me. I was given the option to either take a photo or choose from an existing photo. When I pressed either option, it would just kick me out and not let me upload my picture.

Overall, I feel like the Babydot app is definitely very user friendly and one I would download because it is free. It’s a great resource for new parents, but the chat area definitely needs some improvements. You can download the babydot app on itunes. I did a little digging and don’t think that it is available on the android network yet, and I’m not sure if there is an app for android in the future either. Either way, it’s a fun app and I will keep it on my phone.

Family Movie Night, Game of Your Life + Kinect Game Giveaway

Family Movie Night
Family Movie Night is this Friday! Snuggle up on the couch with your family Friday, December 2nd, because P&G and Walmart are back with yet another great movie, Game of Your Life. It will air on NBC at 8/7c. It’s no surprise to me that these movies continue to be released as it’s hard to find good family programming sometimes. I do have expectations for these movies now, so I’m anxious to see Game of Your Life.

Game of Your Life Synopsis

When high school gamer Zach Taylor lands a scholarship to an exclusive video game design program led by billionaire gaming icon Marcus Bentton, his future takes a promising turn…as long as he can survive the intense freshmen project that eliminates half of the class in the first three months. Teamed up with determined group leader Sara and his brilliant yet socially awkward roommates, Donald and Phillip, the four set out to involve the entire campus in a quirky new social interactive game. As the project intensifies, Zach learns that his father is in financial trouble. Distracted and desperate for help, he accepts an opportunity to work with Bentton on a secretive and suspicious side project. Zach finds himself stretched to his limits and torn between his responsibility to the team and his desire to help his father. With nowhere to else to turn, he confides in Professor Abbie Lambert and is forced to make a decision that will affect his future and the lives of everyone around him.

Moms 4 Family TV
There is also a great initiative called Moms4FamilyTV which encourages companies that create entertainment options for families. For more information on how to get involved visits Moms4FamilyTV.

Although I haven’t seen this movie yet, it’s promised to provide values that parents can appreciate their children learning like Loyalty, Responsibility, Teamwork and Trust. Those are definitely values I want to instill in my boys. So grab a bowl of popcorn and tune in to NBC on December 2nd 8/7c for the P&G/Walmart movie “Game of Your Life.”

Carmex Skin Care Review + Giveaway

Healing Dry Skin
I’ve always lived in very dry climates. Growing up in Idaho, I battled dry skin my whole life. Now we live in Utah, and it’s no different. The winter is an especially hard time as it seems like it gets even dryer. My boys have very dry skin as well, so it’s important that we all moisturize daily. I have a pretty good habit to use lotion or cream after I get out of the shower everyday, and it definitely helps. I’m always open to using new and different products for moisturizing. As part of the Carmex Blog Squad, I was able to try out a new line of Carmex Skin Care products, new to the market. I already like and use Carmex products on my lips so I definitely had expectations of the new skin line.

About the Skin Line from Carmex
The Carmex Skin Care Line is here with a new solution to heal, soothe and moisturize your dry skin. Our Healing Lotion and Healing Cream both have a non-greasy feel with a light, pleasant scent. Rich healing ingredients, including Aloe and Vitamin E, nourish and moisturize skin.

My Experience
On the front of the packaging, it says that the lotion and cream are non greasy with a pleasant scent. Check and check. I definitely agree that they are both non greasy. They absorb into the skin and leave a nice soft feel on your skin. I do prefer the cream to the lotion, just because it is thicker and I feel like it moisturizes a little bit better. The scent is also nice. It has a hint of the carmex smell which I actually really like. The packaging is also nice, the tubes are soft enough and the product comes out easily. I do prefer a pump for home, but Carmex does offer a pump product as well.
I’m also constantly washing and sanitizing my hands while at clinical. This is important as I am dealing directly in patient care. However, since I have such dry skin, I’ve had problems with my hands cracking. Carmex has small tubes that I can carry in my scrubs. I used them for a week and noticed a difference in my hands. Some lotions continue to moisturize even after you wash your hands. I do notice that this is a con with the Carmex lotion. My hands feel extremely dry like all of the moisturizer is washed off, so I’m constantly applying it during the day.

Where to Buy: Click here for a list of retailers.

Win It
One Babes and Kids reader will win a Carmex Skin Care Prize Pack that includes: # 1 Carmex Healing Lotion, 1 Carmex Healing Cream, 1 Travel size Carmex Healing Lotion, 1 Travel size Carmex Healing Cream

LG Front Loaders – “Air Your Dirty Laundry” + $250 American Express Gift Card Giveaway

Dirty Laundry
Laundry. We all have it, we all do it. Some stay on top of it, some get behind. I would be one of those who tries to stay on top of it, but that doesn’t always happen. Between my busy schedule, and just being plain tired when I get home from clinical, laundry is the last thing on my mind. When I do get around to it, I really have to wonder how 4 people can get so many clothes dirty. I wash my scrubs and jacket every time I wear them. Our two boys are pretty rough, tumble, and spill everything down the front of them, so they also never wear anything more than once before washing it. My husband doesn’t have as much dirty laundry, but add our dirty towels and sheets weekly into the mix and we generate a lot of laundry, quickly. Laundry is all about being efficient in the moment and getting our clothes clean. LG understands efficiency and reliability, and that is why they have been #1 in front load laundry for 4 years running and rated most reliable front load washer brand by leading consumer magazines. I’m here to introduce you to the LG front loader washing machine as well as air my dirty laundry. Really.LG Washing Machine

LG Front Loader
Before I get to the point of airing my dirty laundry, here are a few awesome specs on the LG’s front loaders:

  • LG’s Ultra Capacity Steam Washer is one of the most energy efficient washers available in its category. It’s roughly 86 percent more energy efficient and uses up to 40 percent less water than conventional top-load machines, helping you save more than $900 in energy and water costs over the life of the machine.
  • LG’s True Steam technology uses less water than traditional washers and reduces allergens, wrinkles and odors.

Now, to air the dirty laundry:
Below, you will see my laundry. That’s 4 days worth for 4 people. Approximately 3-4 loads.  Those baskets pictured are about 2 1/2 feet tall and hold quite a bit. That’s dirty.

Not too exciting right? LG wants you to air your dirty laundry, and come clean…. but not your actual laundry. They want to have people share that one thing they’re most embarrassed to admit. We’ve all had those embarrassing moments, or habits that we might not want everyone to know. Want to know one secret that I am going to come clean on? We practice the 10 second rule. Meaning you drop it, you pick it up and eat it. Of course there are certain places and situations where I wouldn’t let it fly, but if we are at home, it’s fair game. Probably not the best habit to be teaching my boys, but hey – I’m coming clean, right?

Stay tuned, because next week I will delve into some more specifics of LG’s Front Loader Washing Machines. But for now, air your dirty laundry and come clean, and be entered to win a $250 Gift Card!

One Babes and Kids reader will win a $250 American Express Gift Card!

Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid + Giveaway

Natural Dish Liquid
I don’t know about you, but at my house, there are constantly dishes to do. It seems like I can never keep up and I have to wonder sometimes if the dishes get up and dirty themselves just so I can wash them. I am generally not in a great mood while I’m doing dishes, but I’m definitely a believer that small things can help. On my dresser in my room is a basket with about 10 different essential oils and blends. I use them to help with headaches, aches and pains, to calm me and more. The scent of these oils can definitely change my mood. I think that’s why I was interesting in trying Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid. With scents like Lavender Floral & Mint, Fresh Citrus & Ginger, and Lemongrass & Clementine, it’s likely you might just have a better attitude about doing dishes, just because of the aroma. It also comes in a Free & Clear for those of you who might want something free of scent.

About Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid:

Seventh Generation dish liquid contains only essential oils and botanical extracts, and delivers real cleaning power. Your tableware will be left fresh and ready to serve your next home cooked meal.

With authentic ingredients like lavender from the fields of Drome in the foothills of the Alps, clementines from sunny Calabria and lemons from the soils of Sicily, Seventh Generation natural dish liquid is free of unnecessary synthetic colors or chemically engineered scents.

Putting It To the Test
Every morning, afternoon and evening, my kitchen is spotless. It looks much like the picture below. I love washing dishes so much that they never spend more than 10 seconds in my sink.

Let’s get real. I don’t mind sharing my overflowing dish filled sink. More often than not, what you see below is what I actually get to tackle. I wanted to know if Seventh Generation would really do the job.

I have to say that I I really like the dish soap. Lavender and Mint was definitely my favorite scent. I love how soothing lavender can be, and it left a nice lingering scent around my sink. It definitely boosts my mood and helps me get through all those dishes. Seventh Generation is a natural dish soap, so my hands weren’t near as dry as they usually are after being submerged in soapy water for 30-40 minutes. I would like to see the soap be a little more concentrated. When soap is not as concentrated, I go through it much faster. Overall, a good natural soap that is hard on dried on foods and soft on your hands.

Nature Makes Perfect Scents Sweepstakes
If the fabulous smelling dish soap isn’t enough, our friends at Seventh generation are giving away a trip for two to visit one of the sourcing sites of Seventh Generation natural dish liquid fragrance ingredients. Visit Seventh Generation to learn more about each scent’s origin and enter to win!

Win It
One Babes and Kids reader will win a Seventh Generation prize pack with everything you see pictured below

Getting a Boost From FRS, Healthy Energy + Giveaway

Getting an Energy Boost
Energy is something I have seriously struggled with since becoming a mom. Sleep deprivation is no stranger to moms. Throw working graveyards into the mix, going to school full time and finding time for running, which is definitely a priority for me. Yeah- I’m always looking for an energy boost. I used to turn to caffeine, A LOT. I was particularly fond of diet soda. There was one night while working a grave that I got to the end of the night and realized I had drank over 100 ounces of soda in a 12 hour shift. It was then that I decided I needed to find different alternatives, healthy ones. I migrated over to the 5 hour energy for a while. It had some good vitamins in it, but still had caffeine. They would also make me feel anxious for the first few minutes after I drank one, but at least I wasn’t crashing so hard. A few weeks ago, I was introduced to FRS, Healthy Performance. FRS is a different kind of energy, fueled with lots of positive vitamins, minerals and Quercetin. FRS is a healthy energy drink and comes in the form of a drink, different mixes, and chews.

FRS Healthy Energy Drink

About FRS from their website:

The advantage FRS Healthy Energy® has over other energy drinks is simple. Instead of using lots of caffeine and sugar to give your body a lift, FRS activates your body’s own energy-producing mechanisms, so you can stay at your best longer without fear of crashing. In other words, you get the energy you need to turn possibility into reality, whether you’re shooting for a championship or just trying to make it through your workout.

FRS is fueled by quercetin, a powerful antioxidant found in foods like blueberries, red apples and grapes. Quercetin works by naturally triggering the body’s ability to produce more real energy. The more energy your body creates, the longer you’re able to push. And the longer you can push, the farther you’ll go.

Quercetin Energy Drink

My Experience
Honestly, my experience has been quite positive so far. After lunch is usually a very hard time for me, but I notice if I drink FRS with my lunch, I have much more of a boost. It doesn’t make me feel like I could completely conquer the world, but I don’t find myself nodding off. The drink doesn’t make me feel anxious either, which I mentioned that 5 hour energy does to me. I believe that paired with a sensible diet, a good amount of sleep every night, and exercise that it can optimize your health and energy. You can also use FRS to supplement a workout. For extra energy, you can consume a serving 30 minutes before exercise. I noticed a bit more endurance in my running while using it before a workout.
A few of the cons for me include the pricing if I were to use it on a regular basis, and the flavors of some of the supplements. I really like the premade cans, but am not such a fan of the powder that you throw into your water. It tasted a bit grainy to me and like a medicine. As for the pricing, I’ve noticed that if you like the product, you can become part of their autoship VIP club. You get a shipment every month. You save 30% the first 3 months, 40% the next 3 months, and 50% every subsequent month after that if you stay active. To look at pricing of all products, visit FRS.
I wanted to be able to show you the products, so watch the vlog below to learn more about me and FRS, healthy energy.

Chugger Championship Playset & DVD + Giveaway

Chuggington Chugger Championship
There are a couple new products out by Chuggington, the Chugger Championship Rev’n Race Deluxe Playset and The Chugger Championship DVD. If you have Chuggington fans and haven’t yet seen The Chugger Championship episode, it’s definitely one to show your little ones. And the playset goes right along with it. It would also make a fun Christmas combination since Christmas is coming up late next month. (I can’t believe it’s already November!)

About the Chugger Championship Playset:

The Chugger Championship Rev’n Race Deluxe Playset includes Chugger Championship Koko. This kids powered set does not require batteries! Place Koko in the automatic gate and start cranking to watcher her zoom through the track! When Koko wins the trophy pops up as she completes a victory lap and refules at the fuel depot. This huge set has a layout over 4 feet long! Also works with other Chugger Championship Die-Cast Engines and regular Chuggington Die-Cast Engines.

Our Experience
This is a fun set and I was glad that we already Launch and Go Playset which is compatible with this one. The set is pretty big as you might have noticed in the description above and has a fun racing element. I love that it doesn’t take batteries. I feel like we are constantly going through the batteries with toys and I actually look for toys that don’t have batteries since I don’t want to be constantly replacing them. The trains have a starting point, come around a curve, and then are shot up through the gate which your child has to crank. Although I love that this doesn’t have batteries, if you don’t crank it exactly right, the trains don’t have enough power to make it around the track. My 6 year old was able to get it to work, but I think my 3 year old got frustrated with it. My husband was the best one to keep the train going while cranking since it seems like it has to be timed right. It’s fun and exciting when you get it going, but I think it’s a little hard for little kids.
Watch the video below to see the train in action so you get a better idea of what I’m talking about.

Overall, the boys have had a great time with it, although they don’t use the cranking mechanism a lot since they are frustrated by it. The track is sturdy and took my husband about 15 minutes to put together. You wouldn’t want to misplace the instructions as I feel they are necessary for the first few times of putting it up until you remember how to do it.

The Chugger Championship DVD
About the DVD:

Join Wilson, Brewster, and Koko as they set off, full-speed ahead, to win the race. Excitement along the rails ensues as the three young trainees get ready for an important test, invent a new contest, start a fun hobby and learn to accept responsibility. They even discover that a true champion isn’t always the one who crosses the finish line first. These six exciting new adventures will have your own little chuggers ready for action, adventure and accountability too!

Suggested retail price for the playset is $49.99 and The Chugger Championship DVD is suggested at $16.98

Craftsman Wear With Teflon + $50 Sears Gift Card Giveaway

Craftsman Wear
It’s always nice to be able to trust a brand and know that they will always make great products. Craftsman is one of those brands. It’s a brand that I grew up with, and a brand that my husband now has products from. Last year, we had the opportunity to review a craftsman tee, coveralls and sherpa lined fleece jacket. My husband still has the tee and jacket and my brother in law is currently using the coveralls. Honestly, they are still in fantastic shape, and no stains thanks to the Teflon they are made with. The sherpa jacket looks practically brand new, and it’s been worn – a LOT. Craftsman recently sent us a few more items from their line. The long sleeve twill shirt and short sleeve tee were our two new items.  I already knew how the tee would hold up since we’ve had experience with them.  I’m also really liking the twill shirt and of course it’s nice that it’s also made with teflon.  The fabric is definitely a heavy duty one and I don’t have any doubt that it’s going to hold up great.

Get Into Gear Sweepstakes
Last year, Craftsman and Teflon teamed up and gave away a trip to the Daytona 500. I’m excited to let you know that Craftsman and Teflon have once again teamed up in their Get Into Gear Sweepstakes. They are giving away a trip to a NASCAR 2012 race, VIP pit passes, and an opportunity to meet Jeff Gordon. Not only is there a great grand prize, there are also monthly and weekly prizes that include gift cards to Sears.

15% off Coupon
If the sweepstakes isn’t already exciting enough, Craftsman has 15% off coupon that you can download to use online or in store at Sears.

There will also be a Twitter party hosted by Mom Spark on Thursday, November 3rd at 8pm EST. Jeff Gordon himself will be at this twitter party to answer some fan questions, so it will be one you won’t want to miss. You can RSVP at Mom Spark.

Think Safe, Ride Safe, Be Safe With Chuggington + Giveaway

Take the Chuggington Safety Pledge
This is the first year that I am a parent of a child who is actually going to school. My oldest went to preschool for a few years, and my 3 year old is in preschool full time 3 days a week right now, but I mean real school. Like kindergarten. It’s been a good transition, and Chandler is totally loving and soaking in kindergarten. He loves his teacher, his school, and his friends. I love that we are close enough that he can walk. On days when I don’t have school, I enjoy walking with him up to school. His school is only about a mile away, but it’s good exercise and it’s fun to walk or let him ride his bike.

October is International Walk to School Month. I first heard about it from his school. I was impressed to see multiple fliers and our school even had to pledge on walking to school and being safe. Chuggington is also making parents and children aware of walk to school month. Recently, Chuggington has partnered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a public service program titled “Think Safe, Ride Safe, Be Safe!” The purposed of the program is to educate children and parents about transportation safety including bicycle, pedestrian, school bus, and car seat safety.

This is one of those times that I am especially proud to be an ambassador for Chuggington. It’s always refreshing to see brands doing something to educate and help kids. And because my boys see the Chuggington characters on the logo, suddenly it’s that much cooler to be safe. Smart.
I received a kit from Chuggington with tips and activities on how to educate my child. There were a list of reasons why children are vulnerable and how safety tips for parents that I thought were appropriate.
Have you ever been in a situation where your child runs towards oncoming traffic or out into the road? They act before thinking and don’t always listen. I’ve had this happen a few times, and it was really scary. Small children often make the mistake of thinking that if they can see a driver, they can see them, or they can think that cars can just stop instantly. This is where we are empowered as parents to teach our children the hows and whys of safety. You will often tell your child not to do something, but do they really know why? Make sure to show your children good habits, hold their hands, and as them to look both ways before crossing the road.

I want to issue you a challenge. Take the Chuggington Safety pledge and pledge to think safe, ride safe, be safe. It’s more important than you know.

Win It
One Babes and Kids reader will win a safety kit which includes an activity booklet, pedestrian tip sheets, sticker and a Chuggington safety vest.

Slim-Fast On-the-Go Shakes + Sephora GC Giveaway

New Slim-Fast On-the-Go Shakes
My life never seems to slow down, and you probably already know that well if you’ve followed me for a while. I’m also incredibly interested in health, running and taking care of my body. Food is definitely a weakness for me, and I really have to monitor my portions in foods that aren’t as good for me. Because of all of this, it probably won’t come as a surprise that I’m a fan of Slim-Fast. Slim-Fast is something that is quick and easy to grab when I’m running out the door at 6:30 am, is filled with vitamins and minerals, but also is totally satisfying to my taste buds. Since I’ve bought a lot of the Slim-Fast cans over the years, I was excited to know that Slim-Fast now has a new re-closeable bottle which makes taking the shakes on the go even more convenient. I’ve had to quickly chug the cans on many occasions as I didn’t want them to spill, so this simple change really a good one. With 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber, it helps curb your hunger for up to 4 hours. I usually eat something else along with my Slim-Fast, because I notice that I am hungry about 2-3 hours after I have a Slim-Fast. It doesn’t quite hold me over 4 hours.
The new shakes are available in 5 different flavors including:

o Creamy Milk Chocolate
o French Vanilla
o Rich Chocolate Royale
o Cappuccino Delight
o Strawberries N’ Cream

The Slim Fast Plan
These shakes are part of the 3-2-1 Slim Fast Plan that includes 3 portion controlled snacks, 2 slim fast meal replacements, and 1 balanced meal. To learn more about the Slim-Fast Plan, visit Slim-Fast.

The Slim-Fast plan only consists of about 1200 calories per day, and I don’t think I could survive on that because I run so much. Then again, I use Slim-Fast as a healthy choice to help supplement my diet. And for those that think Slim-Fast has a lot of sugar, the sugar content may not be as high as you think. My favorite flavor, which is the Rich Chocolate Royal has 18 grams of sugar per bottle. That’s only 6 grams more sugar than an 8 ounce serving of skim free milk. It’s actually less sugar than my go to protein shake that I drink after a workout.

Where to Buy: You can buy Slim Fast online at Amazon, or at a participating retailer such as Walmart, Target, Safeway and Kroger.  You can also like Slim-Fast on Facebook to get a 1.50 off coupon!

Win It
To celebrate losing weight and feeling great, I have 5 sephora compact mirrors and $25 gift cards to giveaway to 5 readers!!

Play-doh Twirl ‘N Top Pizza Shop + Giveaway

Play-doh Twirl ‘N top Pizza Shop
Play-doh is one of those toys that my boys can spent a lot of time playing. They’ve gotten even more into it now that they are getting a little older, and it’s fun to watch their imagination as they create things. The Play-doh Twirl ‘N Top Pizza shop is a new addition at our house, and I’ve had many personalized pizzas made just to my liking. :)

Chan will ask me what color crust, toppings and cheese I want. Then he will get to work. You can tell he’s so proud when he’s done with hit pizza, and I of course make a big deal out of it which makes him even more excited.

About the Play-doh Twirl ‘N Top Pizza Shop from Hasbro:

Whip up some delicious fun with this pizzeria set! Mold the perfect “crust” in the “oven,” grate “cheese” with the cheese sprinkler tool and then use the molds to create tons of “toppings.” Pile your “pizza” high, serve it and slice it ? then start all over again! How many different kinds of “pizza” will your pizzeria serve up?
Includes oven, cheese sprinkler, sprinkler handle, dish, server, cutter, pan, instructions and 3 two-ounce cans and 1 five-ounce can of PLAY-DOH Brand Modeling Compound.

Overall, this is a really fun set, and we’ve got another set we are giving Chan for his birthday in about a week which I’m sure he will be excited about. Play-doh is one of those toys that you can feel good about giving your child, and the little mess it makes – totally worth it. The price point is great at $14.99 as well.

Winnie the Pooh on DVD/Blu-Ray October 25th + Giveaway

Winnie the Pooh DVD Release
The new Winnie The Pooh Movie – have you seen it? If not, I highly encourage you to buy it for your family when it comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 25th. Back in July, our little family went to see Winnie the Pooh in theaters. I was more than pleasantly surprised. I loved it. You can read my original review here.  This is a DVD that I am excited to add to our collection to have for years to come.  In celebration of the release next week, check out the widget below for activities and downloads, a personality quiz that lets you know which character you are most like, watch a sneak peek, and share or become a fan of the characters and movie.

Of course, because I was curious, I took the quiz to find out which character I am most like. My result?

Rabbit: Tactical, strategic and a mastermind
You’re the person people turn to when they want something done right. You prefer life to be peaceful, orderly, and organized and can get a little flustered when things don’t quite turn out “right.”

Everything is about right there, except for the organization, I’m not so organized. ;) Don’t forget to look for Winnie the Pooh on DVD and Blu-ray October 25th at a store near you. You can also pre order Winnie the Pooh (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) on Amazon or win your very own copy here on Babes and Kids Review!
